iPods suck. I wouldn't buy one again. Overpriced, and worthless for anyone who wants real portability ( that is, something that can survive without being wrapped in cotton wool ). I have a Muvo, it is now worth < $100, 1 gig is plenty of music and I won't need to buy any third party battteries as long as they make AAAs. I had three different Creative mp3 players, and I always found them excellent. Now I'm really happy with my ZEN Micro 6GB. I love it, and the sound quality is excellent. And it supports WMA, other than MP3. I payed it 240 Euros, though... _____________________________________________ Tozzi is right: Gaia is getting rid of us. Agreed. I've got a 60GB Black Video iPod...couldn't live without it.

Agreed - I could *just* about get my entire music collection on a 60GB iPod - I wouldn't have much room left for any new music though. :)

:omg: That too when Microsoft is coming with so called iPod killer sometime in this year or decade. ;P BTW, If you are ordering the 'Shuffle' then wait for few months. Apple is coming with 2nd generation of 'Shuffle' and 'Nano' products. My wife got iPod Mini (Pink) ;)

            Got Signature?

The mini was the predecessor of the Nano - they're not made any more But to add my 5p, I ordered my other half (who now happens to be my wife, btw) an iPod through Apple.com the Christmas before last (as engraving was free then, too) and was really pleased with the service. The most annoying thing is managing to come up with a message that will fit in the limited space they give you for the engraving! -- Help me! I'm turning into a grapefruit! Buzzwords!

The mini used a 1" harddrive instead of the 1.8" of the fullsized models, or the flash memory of the really small ones. Creative sells a model in that formfactor, I;m not sure who, if anyone, else still does.

I would also suggest to go for Ipod Nano, thats cool and the best thing is ipod can also be used as a portable hard drive A Portable hard drive of 2/4 GB itself cost $100, so it makes it worth Here is a website, where you can get the best price for any ipod Here[^] Omit Needless Words - Strunk, William, Jr.

I bought my iPod video off of ebay and saved around $70 than getting it directly from Apple. It was brand new in an unopened box so the warranty still applied (even though its only a year). One of the things I like the most about the video though is the ability to take my DVDs and convert them to play on my ipod. Its great for air travel.

Agreed. Basic player functionality with no extras and horrible software for the top dollar price. Actually price wise apple is better now than it was couple of years ago but it's still a bad package compared to other players. -the battery life on ipod v5 is pathetic, my dad owns one and he never gets more than 4-5 hours out of it -proprietary usb cables -itunes is horribly designed with lots of bugs -must use itunes to transfer songs to player, you cannot just PnP player to any computer (see above) -must provide valid name, address, phone when installing itunes (wtf for?) -must enter ipod serial number when connecting ipod for the first time (once again, wtf for? It's not like you can use itunes with other mp3 players) -stupid playlists (although it's probably a personal prefference, I prefer folder browsing) -ipod GUI noticably lags if you have a song playing If I were to buy mp3 player I would go for iAudio X5/X5L. Real battery life, usb PnP functionality - the player is seen as another hard drive, microphone recording, built-in radio, skinnable GUI (to a limited extent though), flac support (not that I would ever need it in a portable player, but it's a neat feature), no playlists which means you can organise your library however you want and you won't get false hits just because two artists have the same name or there is a mistake in id3 tags. There are downsides as well, but IMO the pros by far outweigh them.

my v5 ipod gets like 20hours music play to the charge or about 2hours of solid video movie play.

agreed. but there is other 3rd party programs that will load your music from and too your ipod and build the internal db. i install itunes then found out how bad it was, removed it straight away.

i skinned my ipod to with something called like ipodwizard or something and another thing, although not yet compatible with v5 ipods is ipod linux. some crazy people have ported linux and a few apps for the ipod. but i havent seen an mp3 player than looks as good as the new ipods.
