Think yourself lucky. The cheapest price I can find for unleaded locally is 95.9p/litre GBP, which is $1.76/litre USD. Prices here show every sign of creaping up much further than that too - I really wouldn't be surprised if it was approaching £1.20/litre ($2.20) by this time next year. Tried Tesco? Theirs down here in Wales is around 92.9p/l. Also if you spend more than £50 in Tescos you can get 5p/l off, it seriously helps if you need to fill up something (from empty) like a Shogun (which we have) or a Range Rover (which a friend has). Our Shogun has an 80-90l fuel tank and my friends Rangey has a 120l one! He's there for about 10mins filling it up unless they use the lorry pumps.

The same applies in India as well. A dollar equals about 46 Rupees Indian Rupee (as of today's rate). And currently 1 litre petrol stands about 53 rupees. :^) Vasudevan Deepak Kumar Personal Homepage namespace LavanyaDeepak

But the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has a different quote. The crude oil prices from the Gulf and other oil producing countries seems to be experiencing an acute shortage. I think, they should also, seriously look out for non-petrol energy sources as well. General Public should also consider more patronage to public conveyance system rather than depending on private motor systems. This will significantly improve traffic conditions, at least in India. Buy a more efficient vehicle. In the US recently I saw an advert for a car boasting 29 miles to the gallon. That would be laughed off the screen in the UK. Elaine :rose: The tigress is here :-D

Around here it's US$3.09/gallon, that's about US$0.81/liter. The price of gas as very nearly doubled in the last 3 years, as there doesn't appear to be an end in sight. That's a full size 5/6 passenger car. As a tall long legged person I can't drive anything smaller. The seats don't go back far enough. Short range commuter trips wouldn't be a problem with something a bit smaller, but 3hr+ road trips would be torture, and I've got a 10+ hrs one planned for later in the month. We have econoboxes getting 30/40, but the 2 passenger microcar would never sell in the us market. The cliche about differences of scale; in America 100years is a long time, in Europe 100miles is a long drive; definately applies here.

Yeah, and think, these prices are in an "oil producing" country. I am wondering where all the hydrogen vehicles are that everyone was promising just a couple years ago. It's about the same price. We don't shop in Tesco either (we buy local when we can; the few things we can't find there usually come from Sainsburys), so there are no discounts coming from that direction! I've been in 30/40mpg cars. I don't fit. If I was shorter or had smaller feet (size 14/15) I'd've bought one, I'm single and very rarely need the back seat space. 5/6 passenger models won't let hte drivers seat go back far enough to crush the legs of a potential rear passenger, and the 2 passenger models are sportscar type models, tiny and with high performance gas guzzler engines. For that matter, only 3/10 of the large sedans I tried had enough leg room. The biggest factor wasn't the +- 1/2" book legroom. but the extent that the seat would tilt and the angle the pedals were at (flatter pedals forced me to move my foot back an inch or two. If i was any taller I'd've had to buy a big truck/suv gashog.

Still stuck on tbe storage/distribution problem. Compressed gaseous hydrogen has a much lower energy density than hydrocarbons unless you use an insanely strong tank to contain it, and any puncture would trigger a major explosion even with no flame to ignite the gas. The H2 molecule is also small enough it will leak out the gaps between the atoms making up the tank even if it's flawless. Cryonic hydrogen requires very heavy insulation due to the extremely low temperature at which it liquify's. Also an active powersource is needed to maintain the temperature, otherwise it evaporates and boom. At $500k for a fueling station you also have a major chicken/egg problem. For general purpose use, I expect hte current hybrid model to be the standard for some time to come, medium chain hydrocarbons are the only efficient means we have to safely store hydrogen at the consumer level.

I think I need a second mortgage. I just paid $2.90 a gallon for 24 gallons and I get about 14 mpg. I bought the truck in August and I have put 24,000 miles on it. It is HIGH. My original solution was to buy a motorcycle. However, it was stolen in 3 days. My current solution is that I really need to lose weight anyway. A man said to the universe: "Sir I exist!" "However," replied the Universe, "The fact has not created in me A sense of obligation." -- Stephen Crane

It's actually a Laguna estate, and so far I've never had anyone complain of it being cramped. I've a couple of friends in the 6'4" region, and they have no problems when I've given them a lift. :) Anna :rose: Currently working mostly on: Visual Lint  Anna's Place | Tears and Laughter "Be yourself - not what others think you should be" - Marcia Graesch "Anna's just a sexy-looking lesbian tart" - A friend, trying to wind me up. I've never heard of those. Are your tall friends just passengers? I can comfortably ride in a much smaller car than I can drive for any length of time. Driving the issue is with being able to tilt and move the seat far enough back that I can have my ankle at a normal angle while having the full weight of my leg resting on the seat. Inadequate legroom leaves me having to either bend my foot upwards or have the front part of my thigh 'floating' after about an hour either of those positions become rather painful. The cars that I can drive all have a book values of 42.2-42.7" of front legroom. In practice I found about 2-3" of difference between them. Mainly depending on the tilt of the pedals which changed how far forward I could put my heel.
