I went down the the pawn shop and purchased a hand-gun. For a few extra grand that pesky three day waiting period was waved. The shop keep's eye brow raised a little when I only purchased one bullet. Fortunately, I realized it was a joke so I gave the gun to my neighbor's kid. He's always looking for new toys anyway. As a very important aside, if you play russion roulette with a semi-automatic, never go first. A man said to the universe: "Sir I exist!" "However," replied the Universe, "The fact has not created in me A sense of obligation." -- Stephen Crane

It's an April Fool's joke, and he's making a jab at XAML. ;P People these days sometimes have a hard time catching on to satire... myself included sometimes perhaps - but not this time. [EDIT: THis was in reply to ahz, but the CP bug got it.]

Ironically though, I have seen OO programming done declaratively very similarly to what he illustrating. And don't you think that XAML looks a lot like that too? Marc Pensieve

But look how well this would lend itself to Web Services! You could write your CASML locally, then compile and execute it over the Web. But seriously, I never knew Petzold was such a prankster, this is  QRZ? de WAØTTN

Ah, for the moment I hoped it meant that C# 4.0 would look more like ML languages.

I thought it was serious until I saw the simple C# move to the totally unreadable xml. Then I got worried when I saw that the old C# syntax was going away in 2 years! :omg: :wtf: Then I realized that this was a load of crap, not to mention the April 1st date on the page.

They can pry the syntax from my cold dead bits before I go markup. Please tell me this is a joke and Petzold isn't serious. This statement is false.

Totally agree. I get a hint of sarcasm maybe? I hope to god. The author weeps with joy when he finds a way to turn a simple expression into a bloated, incomprehensible pile of unreadable XML crap. ----------------------- I pity the foo. -Mr. T
