Most crimes are commited by felons who aren't allowed to possess firearms in the first place. There are very few crimes commited by registered and licensed gun owners.
I'm not going to respond to this directly because I'm trying to avoid coming down to your level, but I will note that even intelligent members of this website become irrational when discussing the brain dead laws the US has in place for arming it's citizens, so what hope would I have discussing it with you ? Can't you see that a legal mechanism for guns in the community only makes it easier for criminals to get guns ? I have to reply to your comment. You saved the world from hitler? what a lot of shit. The british empire had the largest effect by far on overthrowing nazi germany. You don't know very much about the history of the war, do you? Britain got involved because it was morally correct to. Americas only assistance for the first 3 years of the war was to sell us guns. When it became financially beneficial to, and when britain had done a lot of the work, america joined in. Don't get me wrong, america were an important part of the Alliance, but to take all the credit is incredibly naiive and innacurate. Sorry to dissapoint you all with my lack of a witty or poignant signature.

Is that your position? Fine. You got me. You proved your point, and I folded like a house of cards. I also made an ass of myself, and I'm sorry to all those who I've offended. You are right and I'm wrong. My unilaterism, and evangelism has made me public enemy number one on this site, and for this I'm sorry. I also apologise to all the Australians, especially Christian Graus, whom I've offended, and take back all my negative and hurtful remarks. I also apologise to the British, among them, David Wulff, of whom I made a horrible comment on his moral character. I am also not going to post any longer so I don't bring up bad memories, and am just going to browse. I obviously don't know how to handle myself in public, and therefore not post until I can be decent.
That apology spoken tongue in cheek, but was strangely accurate. Sorry to dissapoint you all with my lack of a witty or poignant signature.

Say it 3 times fast "Predatory Monopoly"... They've been tried, convicted, punished and tried, convicted, and punished (with some options still open) again for not complying with the first punishment. Your assertion that this trials have some how hurt our livelyhood is absurd, having one company setting the standard hurts your livelyhood. Having one company edge out smaller, better companies because they simply have a bigger bankroll and not better products is the real threat.
I agree with you, except about the 'punished' parts. :| "There is a fine line between lunacy and genius; it is my goal in life to keep them guessing just where the line lies..." -- Unknown

I have to disagree with you. Unix and Linux are mainly industrial strenght tools for professionals. I use Linux internally, and most things are done best with a command prompt. *nix was designed to enterprise level performance and stability and therefore has the easy of use trade off. Thomas George wrote: What makes Unix have a steep learning curve? 1.The file system. Imagine someone confronted with that. They would have to go to pathname.com to figure it out. 2. Most things are still installed and configured with .conf files, and you have to compile the programs yourself sometimes! The list goes on and on. Believe me, I'm not against Unix, but it has no place on the desktop of the average user.
Remember, if windows did not provide user interfaces to configure things and you had to do everything in the ini files and registry, it would be that complicated too. The point is that Linux is just two years into developing into a serious desktop. Solaris never targetted that market. Unix in itself is not more complicated or less complicated than Windows. The usability and the availaibility of user interfaces is the deciding factor. No one in the big Unix companies did it - and they are paying the price for it. There was also a report (someone had posted a link on this forum a few days back) that Microsoft actually started developing NT after they had some problems with getting Xenix (their first choice to build the NT, 2000 and now XP system on - rather than from scratch). It is very naive of you to believe that Windows has a user-friendly OS 'technology' than Unix. Unix companies just need to build their UIs. Also, the terminal server edition of Windows was built using a version of Unix to give the remote desktop features. Do you see anything *Unix* in it? Thomas
