What do you mean? Look, I think these rapes in SA are terrible and AFAIK they are happening more frequently than anywhere else in the world but it does happen in pretty much every country on Earth. This isn't a South African problem, it is a world wide problem. regards, Paul Watson Ireland FeedHenry needs you

In all fairness, that poll doesn't only include crime, but disease, drought, famine, child labour etc as well.

"a myth in South Africa that having sex with a virgin will cure AIDS." This is certainly a rediculous myth that people from other part of the world don't have.:sigh: , and also the action taken against the criminal is not stringent it seems in RSA.. that's worrying too. Even in India the punishment is severe enough to deter a criminal from doing it again. I meant this Paul.

Well VuNic you are even more unaware than I thought. The "sex with virgin cures X" myth has been around for centuries. It is present in many, many cultures. Africa does have a bigger problem with it though than other areas I admit. As for AIDS specifically the virgin myth is an African problem not just South African. You'll find it in Cairo and Cape Town and all the tribes and towns inbetween. I'll happily bet that this myth occurs in Asia and South America too. regards, Paul Watson Ireland FeedHenry needs you

hehe, yeah. Many have though in recent years. Shortly before and after 1994 there was a massive drain but in the past 4 or 5 years there has been a marked return of expats to South Africa. regards, Paul Watson Ireland FeedHenry needs you

The kinda myth here I've heard about is like... "If you take tiger's milk...", "If you keep a jackles (horn!) yup they take a piece from it's skull and call it a horn!.. but the virgin myth is something new I hear. But this happens in Isalmic beliefs.. But it has never been equated to a " = cures AIDS". :wtf: what a wicked way to spread it!!

Wasn't there a minister there supporting AIDS prevention (he was president of a prevention campaign supporting the use of condoms and sex ed) aquited of raping a seropositive woman? In the court he stated he believed he was immune to HIV because he took a shower afterwards? or something...

Not only that, when asked why he had unprotected sex with a woman he know was HIV+ he replied something along the lines of But it was protected, my bodyguards were all over the property. Vice-President aka dumb*ss.

Dublin. Not sure exactly which part of Dublin as yet as it's too soon for me to look for gainful employment but I'm thinking Portmarnock looks nice. :) Just as long as it doesn't take me over an hour to get to work I'm happy. And safe. And a good few thousand miles from ol' Charlie N.
