Talking of membership rankings...

More than 500 messages posted (you have 960): Bronze to Silver. 1 year of membership: Silver to Gold :)
I thought that 500 messages to go from Silver to Gold were taken at the 1000 mark not the 501. Since I've had for a while >500 messages, 1 article and >1 year membership. It went from Bronze > Silver when I had more than 1 year membership. Never mind

that is not true. I became Gold member 1-2 days before. I have posted 662 messages and submitted one article and i am a member since Wednesday 17th December, 2003. I have already posted a query regarding the same in Lounge. but it went in it's way... :( SaRath.

The number of articles gives your base level. Each lot of 500 messages gives one bonus level, and each year of membership gives one bonus level. You've got 1 article = bronze, plus 1 lot of 500 messages = silver, plus 1 year membership = gold. Simple :)

Must be a bug :suss:. Since; overnight I've become a Gold Member and only posted a few new messages. Based on the text at the bottom I shouldn't become a Gold Member until I reach 1,000 messages. Correct me if I'm wrong :~ Not that I'm complaining, but it's another bug for Chris & Co to sort out .

What about articles? SaRath.

Not exactly sure how it works. I was a Bronze member with 640 or so messages and then all the sudden went to Silver. After about 10 more messages, I was a Gold Member. I didn't start posting messages until about this time last year, though I have been a member since 2004.

I just decided to update my Bio to make a bit more sense for people rather than "Hmm....". Honestly it's for your benefit not mine  What you've got to understand is that you've been a Gold member sooo long that you've got nothing left to strive for (well, ok maybe Platinum) but with Gold status comes maturity and you'll now get more members who've reached Gold and now help out for the good of the community rather than also trying to up their ranking. God, what a lot of waffle . I will say this though, I did want to become a Gold Member but always tried to provide useful comments etc rather than just waste server space and time. And the reason I noticed it [ranking] went up quickly was that I started to change the Biography in CP, when to post the change and got a blank page saying something like (pretty sure of this) "Service Unavailable". Nothing on the page, just a blank white page with "Service Unavailable" on it. I then went and had a bath (couldn't have my normal shower, and it was not easy with a dressing on covering some stitches ) so a few hours later after doing a little bit of rat shooting in between I tried again and it resumed and I noticed that my ranking had gone up. There! A fairly decent excuse, although I do monitor it more than I should :-O. But now I have reached Austin Level I will slow down as I can't think of enough ideas to write another 24 articles, yet.
