I would like to know how much did the operation, plus cost of electricity, equipment and resources code and why isn't that money going to help more needy people?

I used to be a vet tech. You wouldn't believe what some animals eat. Dogs will eat just about anything including bras and dirty diapers. Cats often have rocks or coins which cause blockage, too. My own cockatoo decided to eat a hazelnut still in the shell whole. Stuck in his crop for about three days. I love animals, but some of them are just plain dumb.

People are supposed to care for animals, as pets, livestock, wildlife, whatever... The vet felt a call on his life to care for such animals; in this case, a snake. Would it have been better to butcher the snake and distribute the meat to the needy? We all spend time here on CP; perhaps our time could be better spent

Thanks. I just realized we are going to have to secure our diaper pail from our coonhound. I love her but she loves to eat some disgusting things.

5 for that. People keep animals, so they have to care for them.

Like the rabbits that was fed to the snake for a meal? Give me a break. Oh sure, but it's food. But people have more sympathy for a stupid snake than someone dying over a darwin award. It's sick. The point is, people/species are supposed to take care of their own first. Jeremy Falcon

Exactly. If we can't care for each other, why would we do we care for pets?

The owner made the choice to keep the snake as a pet for his own entertainment. He has a responsibility to look after it. If your dog is hit by a car you take it to the vet. If you leave it to suffer it's a criminal offence here as it should be. Objects in mirror are closer than they appear

People watch movies for entertainment as well. My point is, you can't really compare life like that.

Just like people have a responsiblity to look after other people before other species. Which was my point, we put more empahsis and sorrow on pets doing stupid shit, but yet laugh at the darwin awards.

No it shouldn't. It should be more a crime to let children starve in poor neighborhoods while we fuss over a stupid snake. Jeremy Falcon

99% of whats in the news is rubbish. Did you know the Australian Army deployed to West Papua a couple of months ago on a peace keeping mission because the Indonesian government is starting to crack down on the independance movement there? My mistake, its East Timor our troups are in because of the change (overthrow?) of government there. Objects in mirror are closer than they appear -- modified at 23:22 Thursday 20th July, 2006

I didn't hear about it, but I do think this issue is more important than reading about a snake eating a blanket. And this is only proving my point. Jeremy Falcon
