Any lucid dreamers out there?
-
I am interested in determining whether learning can take place while the subject is in a lucid dream state. To anyone that has ever had a lucid dream; have you ever attempted to play an audio tape during this state and if so, how was your comprehension of the subject when you awakened? I wrote a blog post about this curiousity. http://www.runfatboy.net/blog/2006/07/20/hypnopaedia-and-the-missing-link-or-the-jim-jones-sleep-learning-theory[^] Just for clarity, the only real research done on Hypnopaedia was done by Fox and Robbin, and as far as I can tell, they never tried to alter the consious state of their sleeping subjects. I rarely have lucid dreams but I believe I'd wake up if I physically did something in that state (like turned on an audio tape). -Jay
Yeah, me too

First, let's figure out whether learning takes place while awake. We'll worry about sleeping later. Marc XPressTier

I played a CD once. But i didn't like the tunes. I'd have learned that i didn't like the band, except i couldn't remember what band it was once i woke up. So all-in-all, it was a waste of time. I sleep less now.

except i couldn't remember what band it was once i woke up. That's juat the luck I'd have . On an interesting note, though, that got me thinking about something: ever have a dream where you're doing something you've never done in real life (spoken a different language, etc.) and then not remebered the details when you woke up, even if you remember everything else clearly? I have, and I was thinking about how marvelous a contraption the human brain must be that while you're dreaming it can fool itself into experiencing things it knows nothing about....
