What are *you* waiting for? I don't care who you are and how important you are family is everything. You can have all the money in the world and die a very lonely person. I grab my kids and hug them all the time (I throw them into the couch and kiddie pool to which are just as important.). I grab my wife all the time :-O. Ooops, that snuck in there. What I'm getting at though is that you better get past those barriers and love your family before it's too late and you are old and lonely. Family is what it's all about. Sure I have 3 monitors, a big PC and software up the yang. I only do to propell me into a lifestyle with my kids. As soon as I feel I've done enough work every day I quit and go chase them, hug them, wrestle them, tickle them, sit quietly with them and just talk (even with a 5 year old it's good to talk). Get those hugs while they are cheap man!:rose:

When I'm joking people take me seriously.
When I'm serious they think I'm joking.
I'm left to conclude my life must be a complete joke. :sigh:

*grin* My 6 year old is the BEST to talk to. I have no idea what he's saying all the time, but it doesn't matter. Speaking of which, I left them in bed, I should go back there. I just jumped online to catch Nish before he goes to India for a few weeks. BTW, the blog is down, or at least it was...

It is a failing on my part as a parent if love is denied to my children. However, as VAIO Blue is in Afganistan, don't know if that is his country of birth, but cultures/religion may forbid tenderness between parent and child especially if VAIO Blue was brought up under Taliban rule ?

It might help the world be a better place if this weren't the case.

For some reason MySQL stopped. I restarted it and it's fine.

Maybe because of the culture, or we really aren't that close, I never in my life hug my father once.

I don't recall ever hugging my birth father either. I have hugged my ex-step father (long story). I don't know much about your culture, but if you think not hugging him is a problem then I'd wager it's best to not waste any more time. :)

That sounds familiar. I'd be willing to bet our long stories are similar :).

You're probably right. It's crazy to think, and I don't have kids yet, but if I do I've already sworn to myself they'll never have to go through what I did.

I should have put it as whatever peaceful way that floats one's boat should work. Maybe to some it would be a day on the golf course or on a chartered fishing boat :)

Yeack! My dad always wanted a hug, give a kiss, and let me tell you I'm more than a little scarred from that memory. Yuck! The hug would've been alright if he wasn't a wrestler always trying to convert the hug to a take down and submission hold. But really, some love is good from a distance. Yeck, I still got this childhood memory of his mustache and it grosses me out every time.

Maybe MySQL had to hug its father process. :)

Well I certainly agree if your kids don't like it find a way to express acceptance to them that they do like. When my son is 17 and comes home with his friends I doubt I'll be hugging him right in front of them (you never know but I doubt it). It's an idea more than an act. I just want to make sure that I show in some way that my kids are *it* for me. That my *best* thoughts are for them. You have an excellent point though.:-D

Yeah, the hugs weren't that bad. For the first two seconds. After that its just plain freaky. Depending on the situation of course; if a loved one passed away then I'd consider that moment and probably feel different about it. Dunno... I think I need another beer now. :^) :sigh: `8)~
