You forgot to set the joke icon :)

Ha ha ha ha ha  You really should put this kind of political crap in the soapbox. Becuase thats what it is. I can not belive how many people from India are up their own ass about their countries prowess, when so many people are DIRT poor. Building nukes and rockets when people starve. Its people like you doing it in the soap box, and its usually targeted at Pakistan, and vice versa. If this was someone from the US saying Indian companies where just doing the junk work that nobody in the US wanted to do, like working in call centers, how would that make you feel? Mmmmhaaa ha ha ha ha. India is going to take over the WORLD!!!!!!! Yeh, whatever. -- modified at 9:27 Monday 31st July, 2006 To be entirely honest, if you were to ask anyone in the west, China is the future. India will grow in importance, but be in China's shadow. This is just all showboating by your finance minister and you know it.

"This could be the Silicon Valley in California, this could be the Rouen region in France, this could be Stuttgart, this could be any town in Australia. It is not even in a capital city" But it's NOT. It's India, where most of the population lives in mud huts, the majority of the country's roads are still made of dirt, most folks don't even have running water, and where you're more interested in blowing the shit outa Pakistan than solving the poverty problem cited in the article. I saw on the news this weekend where the exchange rate is 17 goatskins on the dollar. Yeah, this should have been posted in the soapbox... -- modified at 9:45 Monday 31st July, 2006

Chidambaram is an idiot. You are a bigger idiot for posting it. Infosys is enjoying the legacy created by IBM and the billions of lines of code in Cobol created for its 360 series computers. And anyway, working as a code coolie is only a slight improvement over your previous lives. While you get more money, you have no life outside of work. I know people who work 14-hours days, 7 days a week to meet some arbitrary deadline imposed by a clueless manager in the US. Yeah, it is a step above bending over a sewing machines and sewing shirts and jeans and baby clothes for 19 cents an hour like the Nicaraguans do but not by much. Three hundred years ago, when they sent out ships to Africa to find captive labor, it was called slavery and the slaves hated their position. You, the modern day slaves, love your conditions of slavery. That tells you exactly how Chidambaram and his predecessors f@*#ed over India for the last 58 years.

This shows that You people are lazy people. You cant be patient when somebody scolds you. We got indepence not by fought with guns just by silence. Just try to understand india and our culture. so many things you have learn from india. We are speaking more than 875 languages out of which 15 are nationalized, 25 states with different culture and different political parties. We are facing Terrorism for more than 25 yrs. But still we are negotiating peace talks with Pakistan. But US cant even tolerate for a single strike. We are the only country with fast growing Interntional market even after the entire world's banning our products and imports after our Nuclear program. More and more ..... Proud to be Indian

Most of the American companies are layoff their employees and buying indian companies or establish companies in India recent days. This is not only due to lower CTC to employee but also they realized that for how many years they could run the company with brain less fellows.

Your English says it all about the brainless fellows they hire in India. In the US, they systematize all activities so that it can be performed by people with limited skills. For instance, their fighter jets and bombers are made by people with a high school education followed by a couple of years of training in machining. Certainly they could export manufacturing these fighters and bombers to a low-cost country like India. But they don't. But they did export the manufacture of sneakers and clothing to third-world countries. It all depends on how strategic the product is. It should be obvious that the work they are shipping off to India is not in the least strategic. I know the Indian code coolies are writing code for cell phones and cell phone towers. But you guys can't build an ordinary telephone handset let alone a cell phone. For that, you have to get Nokia and Motorola to invest in India. So talk about the brainless American employees once you can make something other than T-shirts.

Your comparision of language with knowledge shows your intelligence. English is a foreign language for India. But American people depends Indians for their BPO and call centre services. If you do a research where are all the Indians working in America you can realize the Brain power of Indians. I cant argue with a guy with ignorance.

Nope. American people hate your funny accents and they complain to the companies that they can't understand the folks who are answering their calls. Companies such as Dell are in fact closing their call center operations in India for that reason.

They are hiring from IISc and the IITs, not from the Rajiv Gandhi Goat Herding and Engineering College from which people like you get their degrees. And if they talk English like you do, they won't go up in the corporate hierarchy but stay code coolies for the rest of their lives. As to brainpower, the guys from India selling T-shirts to the US made more money than Infosys did for a long, long time. PS. I agree that Microsoft treats its code coolies well in the food department. Their cafeterias have some pseudo-Indian item on their menu to feed the horde of code coolies so that they will happily work 16-hour days.

That is because the US is full of real men whereas Indian political leadership consists of castrated males who used to bow down to Indira Gandhi and now to that Italian she-dog Sonia Gandhi.

What are you on about? I talking about Indian nationalisim, being fired up by your politicians. People like you are stupid enough to take the bait. Its the same in any country. The government has failed to do it job, so they point to somebody else, and say, ha! we are better than them, to distract attention. You need to wake up. I know what many "educated" Indian's working in India think. They think American's and other people in the west are fat and stupid, and they don't like dealing with them over the phone. Its arogance, and bordering on racism, not unlike the Japaneese "gaijin" term for foreiners - that is generally directed at the west, where whites are portraid as a less worthy sub species. So what if you've only had independance for 50 years. India was not even a real nation 200 years ago. India, was just a bunch of inter-fighting principalities. You sound like a winging child, that is trying to make out you have been hard done by. You live NOW, not in the past. Do something about it, and stop using it as an escuse. Its a very weak argument. The US had a better standard of living 200 years ago, than the UK. You've had indepencence 50 years, and India is only now, getting around to replacing 100 year old infrastructure. You've been duped, and the sucessive govermentments have been taking your people for a ride. Don't like home truths about the nation as a whole being incredibly poor? Spending vast sums on nuclear weapons, and space based systems, while the slums expand in cities. You will retort that the west spends huge sums on such things. The thing is the west has a very good standard of living, and can afford to do so. I can safely drink water from any household tap in the country. All houses have indoor toilets. I know there are slums in Bagalore where there is a toilet per 100 people. Not so high-tec now. I've made a point before, and people have taken it on board. India, does not actually produce anything. China, well they make lots of stuff, from textiles to televisions.

India was under the UK empire for centuries..It was the very same very culture (vedic culture) deeep rooted all over India. Before British came India was one of the best economy in the world, but when they leave India and pakistan became the poorest economy.(It was in search of India columbus discovered America and vasco de gama reached India). 2. India always stands for peace ,it was Nehru who initiated the Non alliance movement ,during the cold war.

There is clearly no arguing with you as you are one of the new Indian nationalists that are going to bring destruction to your country. You have a go at the British for doing something that happened long before you were born. You perceive Americans as fat and stupid. And you blam Pakitsan for everthing that is happening to you now. With Kashmir, you almost certainly think its all Pakistans fault. Well from the outside its not.

Is being a former colony a problem? Does it hinder development? Autralia, New Zealand, Canada and the US all seem like they turned out okay. In fact they were doing better than the UK when they were still colonies. Britain was not the only country with colonies. Look at the French, Spanish Dutuch and Portuguese colonies, and see what a state most of those are in these days. Has India taken a step backwards becuase of it. Has the UK mistreated India compared to any other country of late? I think you will find, that due to the former ties between the countries the UK is formost in European countries in trade with India. Buying her services and doing trade, when other European states are being protectionist. How many German, French or Spanish call centers are there in India? Almost certainly very few. But nothing I say will get through to you, as you have a problem clearly with the UK, and you are arrogant enough to assume I'm a racist, when in fact I think you are one for the way you dispplay your nationalistic attitudes, which all started in this thread with a stupid political news article that people like you blindly belive.
