Ok, I will admit it, I applied a budget constraint and only spent a thousand dollars but I have ordered my new PC. I will assembly it when it arrives. I am so excited! To be honest I have never built a PC from scratch for my own personal use :( I am so looking forward to popping this cherry. The specs are lame but I will share them anyway: Processor: Intel P940 RAM: 2GB Paired 667 Video: 7600 GT HDD: 2 WD 160GB 7k with 16meg buffer to be RAID 0 PS: 550 Antec (prolly overkill but I may replace the video card) With any luck it may actually be able to run windows vista when it is released. (BTW, I got all my software dirt cheap and legally!)

No, that gave the Apple IIe (and below) an 80-column text display (up from 40 columns).

I also used to do water cooling and overclocking, but I came to my senses and scrapped all that. The power supply that powers my (5) hard drives also powered two water pumps, and a four additional 120mm more fans. One last thing, just because they CAN draw that much power, doesn't necessarily mean they do... :)

"Popping the cherry" is an expression used to indicate doing something for the first time. Although it is not necessarily polite it is also not usually vulgar. Although, I suppose using the phrase in the context of a dead baby joke would catupult it to beyond offensive and nearly obscene.

I would rather have more than I need than less. My current HP box which will shortly be converted to a linux box does not have enough juice to even add another HDD! It is pathetic.

80 columns meant higher resolution ascii porn (I've seen old school computer porn). I count that as graphics. ;)

Meh, amateurs. I have a seven kilowatt PSU in my computer, and it doesn't just make my lights flicker - the street lights dim too. http://www.bttlxe.com/davids_computer.jpg[^] Saves me a fortune on the central heating bill. It does kind of suck for LAN parties though...
