I have two x ASUS 6600 cards and an ASUS 5200 PCI ( which needs to be replaced with something that will play with the two 6600s )

so I guess that program installs a software decoder and I need to make the hardware decoder work.

Well, if it's using a software decoder, it's not interfacing with the hardware one on the video card at all. But, like he just said, on a modern system, you probably won't notice too much of a performance hit going software based.

Becuase you don't have drivers for a hardware decoder installed. MP isn't software based. Either way, glad you have something working at least.

Yeah, I have a 250 gig HDD so I figured I'd fill all that empty space with music DVDs. I have three monitors, so I can play them on the one on the floor and listen to them while I work.

Ahh. I get it now (I hope). Well, the stuff I was talking about was on the CD the came with a straight-up nVidia card. I don't know about OEM CDs just using the nVidia chipsets. If you can't find anything on the CD, it's always worth trying to use that MP plug-in from nVidia (there's a free trial). If you're gonna pay to play, may as well at least if you can get hardware based decoding going first.

It may include it, but you're gonna have hunt it down on that CD or talk to ASUS to locate it (maybe it's on their site). At least you have a plan B now.

It's software based and slow. If he can get the hardware decoding working, that's the better option.

                            1. Do you watch movies or look on UI fancy buttons? 2) It's skinnable, download/install any of 1000s skins if you dislike default UI. 3) It has more options (useful) then all other media players have combined (well, if we forget of MP Classic). 4) It does not require installable codecs, they are build-in. 5) It can play broken/incomplete media files without problems. 6) It's free, very fast and reliable. cheers,

I just prefer an intuitive UI that makes sense. :)
