I've been reading Grisham novels lately. I read really fast so I go through one in a day or two. Pretty good stuff.

I have just finished reading Atlas Shrugged[^] A lot dramatic and very long, but in essence it advocates the idea of objective reasoning. I liked the book, although certain ideas are stretched too much in the book. So far I have read Standing Alone in Mecca[^] Engaging India[^] Da Vinci Code[^] Alchemist[^] and few others this year. And offcourse I spend some time with tech books too. But i generally never go through the tech books from start to end. They are generally for reference or some intersting topics. I have just started reading Who says elephants can't dance?[^] Ankita

hi, Everybody replied with their fav books, i have read most of them -- all the Grishams, 2 and a 1/2 of Dan Brown [I have read half of Angels & Demons then i left it coz i didn't have any time for it], AI A Modern Approach [although it is not a novel] . . . :laugh: Now i am reading "The Hammer Of Eden" by Ken Follet, then i will be going to the next and my fav novel Harry Potter Vi -- The Halfblood Prince . . . "Never think about the F U T U R E, it comes F A S T . . ."

This is on my reading list. I remember reading The Blink Watchmake[^] a few years ago. Fantastic book, but I remember finding it really hard to follow. Sometimes I had to re-read entire chapters to digest the information.

After finishing Ian M. Banks Excession[^], I dug out and is re-reading The Wasp Factory[^]. When I've finished that, I'll move on to A Scanner Darkly[^], hopefully finishing in time for the movie to be released.

I agree, too much information slows down the story. Some added details can help enhance the picture of daily life, but most gets forgotten anyhow.

I've read a few Bukowski novels (Factotum, Women, Post Office, Pulp) and i've loved them all. I'm not a big fan of his poetry but i would highly recommend his novels. They're straight to the point with no fancy literary nonsense and darkly humorous. Ham On Rye is autobiographical telling the story of his (or Henry Chinaski's) childhood and upbringing, so it's probably a good place to start (although published much later than the rest). Factotum, Women, Post Office all tell the story of Chinaski at various times through in his life. Pulp is a bit of a spoof PI detective novel. Not quite up to the standard of his biographical novels but enjoyable all the same.
