hey, you are the one who keeps bringing up that stuff. I linked to the FSM page because the smoke looks like the fncking FSM. if you want to get into a big argument about religion, then by all means take it to the soapbox. but i won't be joining you, because that's not why i posted it.

Understood. I'm just defending why I thought it belonged in the soap box.

Okay my last comment. It's not that. It seems religious to me. That's all. Which would make it an SB topic. But hey...

It's making fun of the religious stance taken by the Kansas school systems. A stance many people happen to agree with. How about I start making fun of Muslims here. Hey I know, I'll post a cartoon making fun of the Muslim religion. Funny thing... It's okay to bash anything that might be linked to Christianity or being a Christian. You're even now considered "cool" and a "hip thinker" someone who's "free from psychological crutches to deal with the reality of life" but if you make fun of any other religion you'll probably get your ass kicked by 100 people who have nothing better to do with their time than make Christianity out to be a religion of bigots and all other religions the ultimate path to awareness. I would have enjoyed the humor if it had not been an attack (it really is) on the Kansas school system which is an attack on Christianity I mean we're all just angry biggots terrified of homosexuals that secretly desire to burn abortion clinics to the ground right? Don't say anything about being Muslim though... You'll get your head handed to you on a stick...

You sir have a fallacy in your logic right about there...um..unless you are saying that the Kansas school system is responsible for all of Christianity. I thought it was funny.

two weeks ago I would have said I had ocean front property in New Mexico... but after Hatch floated away, it doesn't quite have the humor.

Sorry - I just saw the photo, and then the title of the book. I didn't bother reading the text as I thought that wasn't what Chris L was pointing us to. Looked to me that Chris L was just pointing out the humor - and not really focusing on the serious content.

the cool kids call that "dog whistle politics". people who are sensitive (because they've trained themselves to be) to the code-words, subtle framings of issues, and hot topics of the day will pick up on it right away. normal people won't even notice.

oh? so you googled airborn laser? THEL? Aerial cable is a giant piece of rope that you dangle things off of. I helped build the facility, but all it is is a way of getting inexpensive projects... err... off the ground so to speak. Those are not the things you want to keep secret. You never keep the inexpensive things secret, only the multi-billion in failures. Or you use the publicity to announce the failures as successes so you always put your best foot forward. :) What stuff on there should be classified? Hell if I know, I'm Canadian, I don't think anything should be classified. :) It just seems odd that the US military or any part of it would have a web site at all for anything other than recruiting.

and what I saw on our tour of carlsbad was a column shaped like a guy relieving himself on a wall, and another part of the female anatomy that I just didn't think was appropriate to photograph... :) I guess it all just proves someone has more of a sense of humor than even us.

Everything is recruiting to the military. If you are not recruiting people, you are recruiting support/votes or at least acceptance. http://www.army-technology.com/projects/thaad/[^] is one of the greatest failures of military funding, but if it is marketed as a success, it is a success. It hits less often than the missile defense system it replaces, but it costs more, so if you make everyone think it is a success everyone is happy. That is why you need websites. Without the websites and news programs talking about the success of THAAD and the hope of the future of defending the country using it -- they would have to use their historical record which was 1 in 13. Why would anyone want to rely on the truth when you can build a website? :) edit: now we are getting soap-boxy. My turn to be quiet. :) -- modified at 14:04 Thursday 17th August, 2006
