The UN does have an agreement that no country may claim extra-terrestrial property as their own or as a colony. When people start living there however, they will start to claim property as their own. What are people on Earth going to do? Kick them off? If they try, it will just be the start of the first inter-solar system war. Viva los lunar revolutionaries!

As usual politicians wouldn't let anything happen until it was agreed first one to the moon wouldn't claim it as theirs :sigh:

Unofficially. No-one but the company selling you the name recognises that name for that star. It's a con. You'll never see your star's name in Uranometria.
