He's a fool. No governing body owns the moon yet, so there's no issuing authority to even sale parts of it. If country A is buying title, but country B ends up with it (for whatever reason) he's out of luck.

Still, at $18.95-$33.95, it's more of a gag gift, I'd have said.

You can also get a star named after you too. Hey, that makes me wonder... how come there's no CodeProject star yet? It would have to be an orange one of course. :-D

I believe there was a UN agreement that no country could lay claim to the moon.

I was under the impression it was unknown. I must've not been here that day.

The UN does have an agreement that no country may claim extra-terrestrial property as their own or as a colony. When people start living there however, they will start to claim property as their own. What are people on Earth going to do? Kick them off? If they try, it will just be the start of the first inter-solar system war. Viva los lunar revolutionaries!

As usual politicians wouldn't let anything happen until it was agreed first one to the moon wouldn't claim it as theirs :sigh:

Unofficially. No-one but the company selling you the name recognises that name for that star. It's a con. You'll never see your star's name in Uranometria.
