Sounds like it would be a great place to work.
I'd much rather work at Armadillo Aerospace. But I admit my bias.... :) It's still John Carmack though. He's a nice guy too.

Going on who you are and where you beez, I take it that's your place of employment? The way I see it, gaming is one of the few industries besides pyrotechnics that you can get paid to blow shit up. It's great. :-D

Nope. My employer is a "little bit" bigger. I would just rather an Aerospace company than a gaming company. Once you work with the real-thing, gaming is never quite the same. :-D

Me. Who am I to disagree with my kids and my wife (or do you think they are just saying that)? Of course if I have to disqualify myself then Douglas Adams.
Happiness is knowing that somewhere out there, there is a bullet with your name on it.

Perhaps you're onto something. I am yet but a young n00b in the ways of "thing." :-D

There are no role models worthy of the title "Hero" anymore. Well, no. That's not true. Those firefighters that died trying to save people in the twin towers. That was heroic. Marc

Most of them wouldn't go into a bombed building in the first place either. Also, let's not forget the ones that didn't run after the first tower fell (they had plenty of time to run btw).

I don't know about heros, but if I were to have the opportunity to meet anyone, I'd almost certainly choose Richard Feynman[^], with Lynn Conway[^] coming a close second.

I think at times there is a very large gap between believing you can do something and believing you can not. In the first case, they most assuredly believed they could get the people out safely. In the second case, they probably most assuredly believed they could not.
Any sufficiently gross incompetence is nearly indistinguishable from malice.

Seeing a house burning and doing their job is one thing. But seeing the unimaginable, unspeakable happen, and going back to work is special.
