    I wouldn't say I "love" it. But I am damn happy. I'd rather be independently wealthy but since I'm not, programming pays the bills and it can be alot of fun. If only corporate world was bit more tolerable and executives actually cared about people instead of growth and profits.

      And I tell everyone this. If I one the lottery I would still go to work. Of course I would show up in a ferrari and might work less hours but I would still be there :)

        I started doing it for the money, but then found that I actually enjoy it, and I am pretty good at it, which surprised me.

          I love the career I started out in, software. I love it at work when I actually get to program, solve problems, develop algorythms. Now days I get bogged down in the corporate crap, processes, required but useless documentation, processes that add no value (or fun). I actually get to program about 20% of my time right now. I do programming at home for fun and to learn. I think that's also why I love CP so much, I get to learn and program. I would change jobs but I have a son in college and a daughter in High school and feel I need a stable job until they both get out of college. So for the next 7 years, I'm here. This job does pay the bills. Joe Q

            If I had that kind of money I'd probably work for a charity or something, if they need IT guy of course. I imagine they would need some sort of app or webpage, everybody does. If only, if only...

              I definitely enjoy programming, but wouldn't mind if I did something else. I think I would enjoy splitting my time between programming and something like landscaping or woodworking or even writing.

                I have a love hate releationship with my job and software development in general. I love the analysis and design, and love seeing my software being used and actually being of some real use to my users. However I hate all the typing in between.

                      i love programming. to some extent though, i do it for the money. because, if money was not an issue, i wouldn't do it 9 hours a day, every day.

                          I couldn't agree more, it does add a certain amount of satisfaction to the job when your work is used as it should be and not shelved.

                                      what i love about this career, is that there is so much to learn. There is something new in every problem or project you are working on. At least if a job or project gets to the point of being boring, you could always try to find a new one, which will for sure bring in something new to learn, some new problem to solve and some new headaches too :) Ankita

                                          Programming is work?:wtf::-D I was going to say I only work for sex. I mean... I never see any of the money that comes in. Then I thought... the Lounge (kidsister)... the Wife (slapmeinthehead)... my mother (rollseyes)... and decided I'd make it an undertone and not my formal response. Hopefully I'll avoid chastisement in this manner.:-D
