On two occasions I have been asked [by members of Parliament], 'Pray, Mr. Babbage, if you put into the machine wrong figures, will the right answers come out?' I am not able rightly to apprehend the kind of confusion of ideas that could provoke such a question. - Charles Babbage
I definitely enjoy programming, but wouldn't mind if I did something else. I think I would enjoy splitting my time between programming and something like landscaping or woodworking or even writing.

I have a love hate releationship with my job and software development in general. I love the analysis and design, and love seeing my software being used and actually being of some real use to my users. However I hate all the typing in between.

i love programming. to some extent though, i do it for the money. because, if money was not an issue, i wouldn't do it 9 hours a day, every day.

I couldn't agree more, it does add a certain amount of satisfaction to the job when your work is used as it should be and not shelved.

I used to dislike this part of the job as well but it does grow on you. I find myself liking it more and more as I get better, which happens little by little every day.:-D

what i love about this career, is that there is so much to learn. There is something new in every problem or project you are working on. At least if a job or project gets to the point of being boring, you could always try to find a new one, which will for sure bring in something new to learn, some new problem to solve and some new headaches too :) Ankita

Programming is work?:wtf::-D I was going to say I only work for sex. I mean... I never see any of the money that comes in. Then I thought... the Lounge (kidsister)... the Wife (slapmeinthehead)... my mother (rollseyes)... and decided I'd make it an undertone and not my formal response. Some days the $20 thrown on the dresser just doesn't seem to cover it... [ I've spent the last two weeks incorporating dongle-based protection into one of our products. I am grumpy. ]
