You mean you don't have the urge to have a framed picture of a cartoon alien? I at least have Star Wars stuff to offset the estrogen!
I worked with a guy who had tons of Star Wars stuff. People called him Nancy though, so I'm not so sure it offsets the estrogen too much. ;P

I just added a new desk decoration. I was reading my MSDN magazine and there was a CP ad with a picture of Bob! So I cut him out and he's taped to my desk. My cubicle is kind of a mess of stuff including the following: 1. A calendar with bugs as art 2. Art prints of puffins 3. Numerous picture frames filled with pics of cats and birds 4. One pic of me and Kori with a page flag pointing to Kori's head saying "Missing Information." 5. A Micrsoft paint drawing Kori did of my "brain." At least the "Programming" portion is bigger than TV. But not as large as "Animals." 6. My scrapbook of my trip to Puerto Rico when I need to go to my Happy Place. 7. An art drawing of a squirrel and a photograph of my squirrell family at my old house. 8. Visual Studio posters of different classes. 9. A postcard that says "Don't Be a Jerk." 10. A BASF insert to someting with holes that said, "Your project is full of holes." I scratched out "your project" and wrote "my mind." 11. Darth Tater 12. A cutout of Yoda with a light sabre. 13. Pop and water bottles. 14. Over 20 books---most I don't use since they include things like COBOL and JavaBeans. But I ran out of room at home. 15. 1- A calendar from my sister's old apartment complex. The pictures are terrible, but I hang it up to remind me that some people continue to get paid no matter how crappy they are at what they do. 2- A quote from Roger Wright on desk clutter 3- A quote from codefrog on teamwork. 4- A false bamboo plant, which has survived weeks without water and months with nothing but flourescent lighting. A real trooper. 5- My headphones 6- Books on MFC, VB, computer architecture and C++ 7- company magazines 8- a tape drive and blank tapes 9- paper, pens, random illegible notes, a coffee mug and coaster (actual coaster not a CD) and a bottle in case I remember to water the bamboo. 10- a dry erase board 11- A chart of ASCII/EBCDIC characters 12- some notes related to projects. 13- A nameplate that says Black Warrior

At the office: tie, hat, golf ball, other useless nicknacks along those lines. Also, a candlestick in the shape of bony hands raising a skull. At home: a dart board, a tomato plant, some sort of huge leafy plant, some sort of vine.

0. My ergonomicaly/egonomically correct chair. 1. Telephone. Verbal communication seems so gauche, don't you think? 2. Pictures of my wife and daughter :love:. 3. A plaque I got on Father's Day a couple of years ago :rose:. 4. In the desk, my collection of around 300 CD's. A wretched hive of scum and villainy, consisting mainly of an embarassing amount of smooth jazz, 70's funk, and 80's pop. These are played on my daughter's old portable CD player through my $160 Sony studio headphones that never seem to get stolen (even though my cubicle neighbor's $5 ear buds have been ripped off 3 times). 5. A picture my daughter drew of someone canoeing in the mountains :love:. 6. HP LaserJet 2100 printer. Yes, Virginia, HP can do something right. 7. PC (it ain't much, and the squirrel inside has learned to love the whip). 8. Two 21" CRT's. Yes, I said CRT's. That corner of the desk bows down a little. 9. A cardboard box of miscellaneous cables and I/O cards. 10. A horizontal file cabinet containing the mysteries of the universe (one drawer of CD's, one of floppies, one of paper files, and one that's currently storing/not storing Schrödinger's[^] Cat). 11. A candy jar on top of the file cabinet with a label that says "Help Yourself". The jar is an open-ended bribe to my co-workers. The current stock of caramels is getting low, much to the dismay of my boss. 12. My guest chair, which no one uses. They all sit on the file cabinet. 13. A book case. The bottom shelf is for stuff related to my DOS-era projects. The next to the bottom shelf has stuff related to my OS/2-era projects, along with overflow from the bottom shelf. The second shelf is empty except for the MSDN DVD binder. The top shelf has my 'paper-to-be-dumped-in-the-recycle-bin' pile. 14. A long-suffering ivy plant that should be in therapy due to the chronic neglect and abuse.

I'm comfortable with what I called organized clutter. My desk at home has four stacks of things; stuff to be shredded, bills and bank statements, long term notes and crap I may need, but dont' want to file (they sit on my scanner.) By contrast, at my jobs, except for the latest pictures of my four kids on the wall, my desks always look like nobody works there. I'm not sure the entire reason I'm so obsessed with doing this, I just do. (Part of the reason, and this is serious, is that I've learned that when you get laid off, it's much easier if you can carry all your stuff out in one arm full.) (During one summer vacation, as a joke while at the beach, my wife bought me a postcard of a babe in a bikini, so I put it in a bookcase at my job in such a way that only I could see it. One day the CEO came in and sat down to talk about something and looked over and saw it. I'm still not sure she believed my explanation, but I didn't lose my job over it. [I lost it several months later when I told the COO that he was an incompetent moron (amongst other things, he forgot to cancel a lease and cost the company $85,000.)])

Quick reference charts for VHDL syntax, Ruby syntax and the ARM instruction set 5. Various printouts of Dilbert :cool: 6. A hardware block diagram of the project I'm working on at the moment 7. Half a rainforest of paper 8. A cup; currently empty but usually contains a varying quantity of water 9. A copy of the company's emergency evacuation procedures (I'm a fire warden and first aid officer) 10. A bright red fire-warden's hard-hat 11. A green first-aid officer's hard-hat (somehow I'm supposed to wear both at once in an emergency situation...) 12. Two boxes of junk that I have no idea what it is, how it got there or what it's for 13. Various cables and wires for the hardware stuff I work on. 14. A desk. 15. A whiteboard 16. A bookshelf with a few books on it, not many That's about it at the moment. I did have some funky test equipment a while ago, but it was plundered :rolleyes:

My desk is clean by comparison, -Phone lists everywhere (no one here has heard of those database things yet) -Couple of maps of the country. -Severity Guidelines. -Printed copies of up coming CMRs and Completed CMRs. -Dilbert Calendar. -Coffee Thermos & bottle of water. -An old pop can I use as a spittoon -I keep various snacks in the desk, crackers, ritz bits, candy bars (depends on what’s going for cheap at the store). Just something to snack on so I don’t hit the vending machine. -A case of Soda Mountain dew. Now that I bring in water it lasts about a month -A handful of E-Week magazines.

I just added a new desk decoration. I was reading my MSDN magazine and there was a CP ad with a picture of Bob! So I cut him out and he's taped to my desk. My cubicle is kind of a mess of stuff including the following: 1. A calendar with bugs as art 2. Art prints of puffins 3. Numerous picture frames filled with pics of cats and birds 4. One pic of me and Kori with a page flag pointing to Kori's head saying "Missing Information." 5. A Micrsoft paint drawing Kori did of my "brain." At least the "Programming" portion is bigger than TV. But not as large as "Animals." 6. My scrapbook of my trip to Puerto Rico when I need to go to my Happy Place. 7. An art drawing of a squirrel and a photograph of my squirrell family at my old house. 8. Visual Studio posters of different classes. 9. A postcard that says "Don't Be a Jerk." 10. A BASF insert to someting with holes that said, "Your project is full of holes." I scratched out "your project" and wrote "my mind." 11. Darth Tater 12. A cutout of Yoda with a light sabre. 13. Pop and water bottles. 14. Over 20 books---most I don't use since they include things like COBOL and JavaBeans. But I ran out of room at home. 15. My desk is usually the sofa or (if I'm doing lots of paperwork) the kitchen table, so cushions, a vase and some flowers are the usual decoration. :rolleyes:

At work: I have a picture of my wife At Home: I have picture of my wife, a blown glass square-rigged sailing ship in a bottle (I like 18th century sailing ships), and some nascar diecast. I bet Link2006 has a bunch of pictures of girls he's never dated (and those pictures were probably snapped without the subjects being aware).
