Chill out John Simmons

Yep, same here. Those "why doesn't she love me" threads he had running a few weeks ago were pretty much insane. And he did overdo the Youtube postings :-) But outside of that, he definitely seems harmless. Though he seems to have a strong insult-proof personality :-) I don't think a JohnSimmons-MichaelMartin combo would have much effect on Link.

And if you mix all three of those into one personality, hmm... Let's just say I'd be afriad, very afraid of what the result would be. :-D

I think the majority of it is people following the crowd. As for me, the posts I don't like of his are the inappropriate ones. Outside of that I don't vote his stuff down. He's gotten much better about it, but only recently. I think it got bad because for a while everyone was saying chill out with the improper crap he was spewing but he didn't listen. I reckon it just got to the point where we all just unleashed, and I don't think people are done having their fun yet.

I don't mean to ruffle feathers, but I don't see why people pick on Link and vote down his posts, and tell him he is a nuisance. Some of his posts may be inane, but I have never seen anything malicious about them. Is he the focus of ridicule simply because he's a little different?

Different? What, like most of us can't identify with being lovesick and bored? Please. To the extent he gets teased, it's because he throws out these inane posts and then proceeds to ignore any serious or compassionate replies, instead focusing on the joking or insulting ones. To borrow a term from those ever-scatological Brits: he's just an incorrigible "piss-taker".

Sorry I didn't see your earlier posts until now, you kept suggesting FPS titles to challenge me, but didn't you know I'm Fatal1ty's dearest secret mentor? I'm quite busy mon - fri, if you want your ass kicked, we can have a CP frag party this sunday. We can also play HL2 deathmatch, so I can frag you with a toilet with a gravity gun, which is my favorite. Also, I have never stalked that woman once! So, stop making up story. Thank you. :)

Great! Now I am confused. Where should I put my money on you or on John?

Holy crap ! You dont stand a chance of lasting even a minute unless you are intimately familiar with these games (weapons, moves, key combos). I tried to play HL2 with my 12 year old nephew, it is hopeless. From the looks of it John should ask for one month practice time before taking on Link.

I got to the point after I was feeling sorry for myself about turning 30 he told me that I need to chill and go birth some children.

I must also add that I am a dinosaur - out of touch with gaming for 10 years.

Have you really been following his posts? Some of them are malicious, whether intended or not that is how they are coming across. Now if Jeremy Falcon was defending him then you could safely assume others where just jumping on his case, for being "different" or "special". There is a reason though. Jeremy is the defender of anything that smells funny. :)
I'd love to help, but unfortunatley I have prior commitments monitoring the length of my grass. :Andrew Bleakley:

I don't play half-life (although I do have HL2, but only so I can play DOD:S). It seems the respondents that claimed a game preference liked Quake4. The wife was going to pick it up for me on her way home from work last night, but Target didn't have it.

This whole thing started after he offered to "take it outside". I gave him an "outside" to take it to. In fact, I gave him an "outside" that everyone else can participate in as well. Regardless of the game used, it'll be fun.
