I had my "Name or Alias" field set to be exactly as follows: Dean "Karnatos" Michaud It would not let me post a message here on the boards, claiming I was trying to post as 'Dean' with an email of 'karnatos@hotmail.com', and that there was already another user named 'Dean "Karnatos" Michaud' using that email address. I replaced the double-quotes with single quotes, and the problem went away - it was quite annoying though, because I'd have to try to post to ask about the problem, but I could post because that was the problem... uhh, if you know what I mean. Anyways, I'm still new here, not quite sure who to mention this to, if it is a known problem (maybe a notice on the setting page or somewhere more prominent would let people know in the short term?). Just wanted to give a heads up on that! : Dean "Karnatos" 'Karnatos' Michaud

Welcome to CP, Dean. Some people foolishly think this is just a place to find source code and programming info, but the more enlightened amongst us regard it as a way of life. There's just a couple of house rules you need to know, and you'll be fune: Please don't feed John's pet goat, he'll get jealous. Refer to Rant n Rave if you feel the need to vent your spleen, just watch out because Dave Wulff has left some of his old pr0n lying around in there. The Visual C++ forum is the place to ask programming questions, but be forewarned that any mention of C functions, CFile or CArray will result in me berating you beyond all hope of reason to use the STL/IOStreams. Many minorities are represented here, including trans-sexuals ( although the person in question never revealed their identity ), people from the third world ( Nish ), and even VB programmers ( Paul Watson ). So welcome, join the fun, and if you are ever so foolish as to leave, please leave the door open on the way out.... :-) Christian The tragedy of cyberspace - that so much can travel so far, and yet mean so little. There's been an annoying problem with the board for a few weeks now that I've been trying to pin down. If you've found a problem and can repeat it just email me at webmaster@codeproject.com. I'll look into this little gremlin. cheers, Chris Maunder

Not quite what I said, but not too far off either. What I actually said was that I wouldn't post under this name unless there was a good reason for doing so. At the moment I still post under my old name, and will continue to do so until I formally change it. Anna :rose:
