It probably would have been better if the car had been stolen. The resale value of the car has been reduced by several hundred $/€'s by the keying. If it had been stolen, he would only have been out the deductible on his comprehensive insurance. He's left with the distasteful solution of keeping the car in its damaged state. Of course, there is the potential satisfaction of finding the little bastard that did it, and mounting his head on the hood of the car as a warning to others.

Fun? If someone keyed my car (or anyone else's and I caught them) I would break their bloody fingers off. The genuine lack of respect some people have for others' property is disgusting.

I feel your pain. Not long after I got my previous car, some drunken buffoon dragged their riveted arse along the length of one side. Of course when somebody reversed into the side of the car a few years later, they managed to hit the only remaining unscratched panel  I sent a kid packing last night after he knocked on my door at 9.30 wearing a Scream mask. I asked him what day it was and he didn't seem to understand. Needless to say, I shall be ignoring anyone that comes to the door tonight.

By way of illustration to Link2006 of something to _actually_ get mad about, someone keyed my car yesterday. I was out at a friends drinking beer on Sunday night, got back on Monday at twelve, went out at again at one to drive to the pharmacy, to find someone had keyed the entire length of the car. Not only my car, my Mum's car as well, and a few of the neighbour's car. Halloween brings out a silly season in the city, the local teenagers are running riot ...

My blazer got keyed the weekend I got married. I guess they didn't like the 'just married' written in masking tape. note that neither of us had evil ex's that would have done this
