Yeah, play soccer (football for the rest of the world) as frequently as possible!

Apparently there's an anti-soccer movement going on I didn't know about. :-D

- No.
- How about the same age when we start letting kids drive?
- Sometimes.
- When i needed to.
- Clothing and breath stink.
- Something to do when you're stuck around boring people, besides drinking.
- Around $1. And since we're going all out on the price fixing, let's make bread $0.30 a loaf...
- The same way we, the people, make anything illegal: claim it's part of a plot by scary minorities to rape our young women. Then build bigger prisons. Prisons fix everything...
- Absolutely! Send me a donation of $9.99, and i'll ship you my free pamphlet on alternate, positive stress relief techniques (that i conveniently also sell equipment for - catalog included!)

1. No, but perhaps the manufacture of tobacco products should be. (why insist on punishing the consumer, rather than the supplier)? These days the government profits from the sale of cigarettes more than the growers and manufacturers do. They are complicit in fostering and supporting the practice. 2. N/A, see #1 3. Yes 4. Yes 5. ? don't get the question ? 6. It's an addiction, and as such self-satisfying and self-sustaining. The issue is more what are the barriers to breaking the addiction, than what are the benefits... 7. Whatever the market (without government interference) makes it. 8. You have absolutely no right to do so. You can restrict its practice in public places, regulate its avaliability to minors, but have no right to prohibit private use. There is no justification for confusing tyranny by the majority with "democracy". Besides, it won't work, as the attempt to prohibit the consumption of alcholol in the early 1900s in the US clearly proved. It is grossly hypocritical to suggest that the users are the problem to be corrected while ignoring the producers (and simultaneously participating in the profits). 9. How is this question relevant? Are you making some unwarranted assumption about why people smoke?

Just out of curiosity, would you apply the same logic to drugs (i.e. LSD, pot, coke, etc)? For what it's worth, I agree with you.

sex is a great stress reliever
it's only the trying-to-get-it part that's stressful.
I'm sure the trying-to-get-it-up part much later in life, is equally stressful. Then it's time to pick up smoking. :)

South Dakota is voting on a measure to increase the tax by $1 a pack in an effort to make it too expensive to smoke. Having lived with a smoker 12 years, I don't think this is going to work. it may make them cut back (still good) but I think the money recouped (if it passes) should go towards treatment for smokers to quit (medication, patches, even therapy if necessary). Kori tried to quit once and after the third day i was about ready to go buy him smokes because he was so miserable. BTW, he isn't worried about the tax increase if it passes since we live 2 miles from Iowa.

No. But I don't want to breath in their foul smoke. It should be restricted to private areas only.
Amar Chaudhary wrote:

18. It is currently 16 where I am.
Amar Chaudhary wrote:

No.
Amar Chaudhary wrote:

Just high enough to discourage people, but not so high that smuggling cheap cigarettes is profitable.
Amar Chaudhary wrote:

We shouldn't. If someone wants to kill themselves then I'm not going to stop them.

I've seen too many people killed by tobacco. Never smoked and in the UK smoking in places like pubs is being banned - good! There are lots of healthy ways to deal with stress - tobacco is an addiction like any other. Elaine :rose:

Pubs I can handle... but nothing worse than people smoking in restaurants (in doors). Some countries happily allow this and some restaurants don't even have non-smoking sections. X|

1. Should smoking become illegal? I just don't see why people do it, there should simply be no interest. 2. If not, what do you think the legal smoking age should be? It wouldn't matter, there would still be underage usage. 3. Do you smoke? I experiment a little. 4. Have you tried to quit? It wasn't so much "trying" as "doing". "Do or not do, there is no try." -- Yoda 5. What are the effects while or after smoking? Coughing, smelling up the place. 6. What are the benifits of smoking? None for the user, only for the providers. 7. What should the price of a pack of smokes be? Life. 8. How can we, the people, make smoking illegal? The usual way, but it shouldn't be necessary. 9: Is it possible to remove stress by using alternative, positive methods? Huh? Everything is possible. I prefer to de-stress where there are young women dancing while while wearing little or no clothes.
