It's really odd, but Coke tasted better in Toronto than here (even though Atlanta is the home of Coca cola). Maybe the water used, and the sugar types mixed in makes a difference. As a compulsive Coke drinker, this has been worrying me these last few days. I just hope that my body's taste appreciative mechanisms will bio-adjust to the new Coke flavor - if not I am wondering if I should order Canadian Coke in mass every month.

    Regards, Nish

Is it consistent, or could you have just gotten an "old" can or bottle? I'm a Dr. Pepper fan and it happens on occassion. Nothing worse than looking forward to a cold soda, only to have it ruined by a bottle that wasn't sealed! In any case, you could fire off an e-mail to CC. I've done this several times in the past and they do respond.

Sugar and fat doesn't seem to have as bad an impact on me (for some strange reason) as they normally do on people. I drink lots of Coke, eat junk food, and unfortunately, I don't seem to gain a lot of weight :sigh: I am still trying to hit the 70 Kg mark (one of my life-goals).

It shouldn't be the water, usually the water is pretty well filtered no matter where its bottled. It could be a variety of things. Have you been drinking it more than usual lately? I rotate between three favorite drinks (Mountain Dew, Mello Yello, and Vault). I have found if I keep drinking the same one all the time I get tired of it and it doesn't taste right. Try to stop drinking Coke for a while, if you experience caffine withdrawals just try something else with caffine. When you finally do go back to coke it should taste great again.

I think there is a difference between the sweetener types between the USA and Canada and Europe.

It's more than that - some products that are common between nations have totally different recipes Mars Bars are an obvious one - the British Mars bar is utterly different from the American one Visible Mars Bar Project[^] (The Science[^] page shows the differences)

I'd strongly consider always drinking water. Some fruit juice, often. Beer or Wine occasionally.

You must have an ectomorph body build like me. I'm 6' and only 125-130 lbs (about 57-59 kg). I can eat all kinds of stuff without gaining weight. But my body tells me it doesn't like that anyway, so I generally eat healthy.

This happens with me an Mtn Dew sometimes...although if I really just need the caffeine I will drink gatorade and a Vivarin (200mg pure caffeine!). Works like you wouldn't believe, although once I drank a Mtn Dew with a Vivarin...had shaky hands for 2hrs or so. Otherwise they work good and I think you can take them every 4 hrs, since I only sleep 3hrs a night because of my second job they come in handy ;)

That's because of the sun influence on the bubbles in the Coke. Atlanta is in this season slightely nearer to the sun than Toronto, having a stronger effect on the pressure of the bubbles (due to the gravity effect). And having slight bigger bubbles make it taste differently. :) Ok, all answers had already be given...

The US generally uses more high fructose corn syrup in their soft drinks then the rest of the world. There are small bottling companies that still use cane sugar and people pay extra for those. It same is true about a lot of Mexican sodas and they have a following in the US. High fructose corn syrup is about the worst sugar for your body in existence. If you keep drinking it and your metabolism slows down after you turn thirty, you won't have any problem putting on weight, trust me on that one. I'm 6'1" and I struggled to make it up to 160lbs (73kg) until my late twenties and then shot right up to 210lbs (100kg). Hopefully that doesn't happen to you, but its really common.

Start eating proper food and you may gain weight :D I know lots of people who live on chips and coke but still remain thin. And people like me, who just take proper food, end up being fat because of the intake of rice.

It's consistent - I tried Coke from different stores (I usually buy Cans).

You must have an ectomorph body build like me. I'm 6' and only 125-130 lbs (about 57-59 kg). I can eat all kinds of stuff without gaining weight. But my body tells me it doesn't like that anyway, so I generally eat healthy.

Yeah, that sounds like the body-build I have - never heard that term before. Must look it up. Thanks Justin.

I've heard that they actually use slightly different recipes for different markets.

True European Diet Coke is labelled 'Coke Light' and it's pretty damn sweet, I prefer UK version of 'Diet Code' certainly not as sweet as the eurpean counterpart.
