Hey lads and lasses, I was just wondering if we could get a show of hands on how many people are working on Screen savers for the competition. It started out very informally but with actaul, real prizes now on offer I'd like to set a deadline of, say, a couple of weeks. If there are those who think they need more time (or haven't had the chance to get started) please let me know. I'm also interested in what categories we have. I know we've got a normal and a C# entry, with a possible Managed C++ in the wings, but if there are some JScript.NET, or VB.NET entries then please let me know. Remember: the best entry in each category gets a prize so if you pick a category no one else is in then it's a REALLY easy way to score some loot ;) cheers, Chris Maunder

I'm working on one. It started out in C#, but maybe I should port it to J#(or whatever it is called) to assure a prize. :-) Count me in for 1 C# and a maybe for 1 J# entry also. Joshua Guy

I am working on one, for a couple of hours every few days, but I am not working to a deadline nor indeed for the competition (not managed :((). Give me a date and I'll try and get it ready in time just so it can appear on the list. ;P ____________________ David Wulff I'll have a slow comfortable screw against the wall followed up with sex on the beach and a screaming orgasm on the rocks, please. Hi, I don't know yet if I'm going to make a CP screensaver, but in that case I'd use Win32 or MFC. So how can I connect to the webservice in "straight Win32 C++"? In the Screensaver Competition page there's a demo for C#, but that's like Chinese to me... :( Paolo ------ "airplane is cool, but space shuttle is even better" (J. I just heard about this from the newsletter this morning. I would like to write a screen saver in MFC VC++ 6.0. Would that be welcome in the competition? I'm not saying it would be its own category, I guess it would be classified as "unmanaged" (or "normal") so I don't expect to win but it is still an opportunity to pull out some old animation code and say thanks to the Code Project. As for the deadline, the sooner the better. I cannot afford to be working on this for more than a couple of days anyway, and deadlines have a wonderful way of making the tinkering stop :)

The managed aspect isn't a requirement anymore; there are several different categories now :) James Simplicity Rules!

Thanks Mike! I didn't noticed I could do HTTP requests and parse the result to use the service. I thought it was something much more complicated... :-O Paolo ------ "airplane is cool, but space shuttle is even better" (J. Kaczorowski)

I may start an MFC screensaver, but I don't know if I'll have the time to complete it. Anyway I'll do my best. :) Paolo ------ "airplane is cool, but space shuttle is even better" (J. Kaczorowski)
