This is why Microsoft certification is a waste of time, and meaningless. It's rote learning, and lots of web sites show you how to pass without having real knowledge, or even take the test for you.

I'm going to have to agree with Christian, they have lost all meaning now. The certification is too easy to obtain.

I've totally seen certification centres that will take the test in your name, and guarentee you will pass. How this is of value to anyone, is beyond me.

Well actually this is not true, some people do take the certification seriously, like your local Harvey Norman computer "Specialist". Other then that its about as useful as a shoe without a sole.

What, besides the poor English, made you all think that this guy is willing to cheat? He only asks for information needed for MS certification tests!

And we gave it too him. We never insinuated that he wanted to cheat himself, but rather that others who have cheated have degraded the value of any MS certification.

Hi Christian, I would like to know how can a developer attain MVP title of Microsoft. I am very much impressed by your title and have seen many people having such titles. I am very much eager to become MVP. Could you please tell me or guide me in doing so? Thanks a lot in advance. Awaiting your response. -Hardik-

I took 2 exams, and I have to agree with the other guys. They are too easy, you just have to get the exams (www.examcollection.com) the VisualCertExam from somewhere (or buy it). And train, train, train. You could find some MOCs over the web. In one point I don't agree is that even if they are really to easy to pass, they still are usefull to get some jobs. It is surprising, but I find a lot of job offerts that asks for an MCAD cert. I think that the "spitit" is to get them not to seriously, but have some certs just in case. It is still usefull IMO. Hope this helps!

Nonetheless some companies insist on them. Of course none will want only certification but they may prefer experience + cert over just experience. However, the majority of companies are only interested in experience.

Care to name one or two? Where I teach test taking it closely monitored and the testing environmental integrity in strictly enforced. Also, the certs must mean something or you wouldn't display the "MVP" next to your name, would you? :P

Which, when one thinks about it, tells us oodles about some people's lack of character, but it also tells that certs do carry weight.

MVP is something that you get given by Microsoft for being an active member of the commmunity. It is not a certification.

Microsoft awards it, there's no test involved.

Well, if a company wouldn't hire me because I didn't pay a certification company money, I'd consider they failed my interview. That could only lead to other, similarly disfunctional views down the track

I was too disinterested to take note, I can't even recall if I became aware of them through spam emails or a website ( although I think the latter ). And, I'm sure MS is constantly shutting down places like that.

I display it to add value to MS, for giving it to me. As has been said, it's not a certification, I didn't seek it, I sure didn't take a test.

You may say this is splitting hairs here but awarding him an MPV certifies what about Chris? Microsoft assures...err...certifies that Chris has exhibited certain level of knowledge and a willingness to share that knowledge with a community in such a manner that he should be certified a MVP. Just because it is not called a cert does not discount it is in fact a certification. Never the less, that was not my point as I am confident you knew. EDITED FOR CLARITY.
