That's right. MSG in Chinese we say "味精" as a kind of seasoning in Chinese cooking. Many Chinese people like it and are used to it. I just eat it a little, much MSG makes dishes taste sweet.

Citizens in this country can NOT move from one place to another freely. If you want to move to another place, you should support some certifications. For example, citizens who are not in Shenzhen want to go to that place, you should buy a certification. Besides those I mentioned, there are many many things which make you feels as if you live in hell but in fact you live in China.:mad: :((

It looks pretty cool to me on TV and there are many admirable things about China. From what I understand though there are so many rapid social changes going on there right now that there is a lot of turmoil and people are not comfortable with change for the most part, particularly rapid change.

Thank you. But I think most of citizens in China can nerver live better if they are ruled by the current Party. Because in China, many many things which are solved NOT by your abilities but your relations. The "relations" makes things in China are very unfair. And the "relations" make some people become very rich and make other people become very poor.

I can only hope the economic changes help to open things up and increase personal freedoms because increased conrtact with the rest of the world is required. As to relations counting more then abilities, this is something the people have to change. Even if you makea very small change in that, it is a change. Elaine :rose:

I don't know enough about China to think much of it. I saw a documentary once about how male children are hugely preferred, and because of the child-limit, couples try to abort female fetoeses etc. Is that correct?

Its changing, quite fast. HAng on in there and in another 20 years you wil have the freedom you want. And in any case, all governmemnt is corrupt, they all rip us off, and al lie to us, so dont expect any imoprovement in that area. As for media and facts, well thats also a problem in the west too. House buying? You should se the UK!

I think there's a couple of problems with China... 1) It consumes too much land mass. They're exercising monopolistic control and they need to be sued. 2) There's too many chinese people there. I mean seriously - just because it's called China doesn't mean most of the world's chinese have to live there. 3) Almost nobody there speaks english. Of course, almost nobody in the U.S. speaks english either.

The only heartening thing is the number of people who have withdrawn their membership from the ruling CCP (Chinese communist party) as atrocities become known through publications such as The Epoch Times http://www.theepochtimes.com/ [link was timing out when i tested it, sorry]. I love china, my family doesn't hail from there but my mum has always had a love for the culture & country, and I have grown up in a house with much Chinese art and literature. She recently came back from a 5 week stint teaching English. I also have a wonderful chinese sister-in-law. I know a lot of other people don't have this kind of up-bringing, but it shows that we all need to support each other no matter where we come from. Australia should have more of a conscience when trading with China. It should think carefully before deciding to support and deal with an oppressive regime, without supporting the people upon which the regime imposes. Peace! :-D -Estheral

As much as I know, it's much worse than China. The people of North Corea lives in a misery.When I'm a child, the schoolbook tells me that the capitalism is a devil, and the socialism is very beautiful. But When I grow up, I find that it is a lie.The government befools me, and befools all people. I would never believe the socialism which the ruler said. Yes, it is very common in China. Because the male is the main labour force of a family, if a couple don't have a male child, no people will support the rest of their life.

Thank you very much. I found that people who reply my question have a very positive attitude against life, which makes me realize that I should work hard and have less complaint. Complaint brings me nothing but annoyance. From today on, I will keep working harder and try my best to change my life, change my fate.

Seems like u lived in India for longer time. In India, we have apprx 30 states. So The local govenrment and rulers change state to state, and so does the importance of relations and amount of corruption. In the state where I live, corruption relatively less. Ofcourse I am proud of being Indian.

Nope, but I have been to India few times recently, of course some of our ancestors were living in north India some thousand years ago .. Great histories and and and .. I cannot stop it if I started.. These part of the world is going through a rough period now.. but it is just a one side of the circle.. and also it is a matter of what definitions you take to measure certain things. I know all change all the time..
