No, of course not. Only the liberal open minded people. Of course we have biggot, religous people here as well, but we shipped most of them off to the USA a few hundred years ago...

Given the atrocities that took place in Europe during WWII, I do not think your statement brings anything interesting to the discussion. On top of that add the over 10 millions people sent to the goulag in USSR in the 50s, and you'll see being open-minded is not a location on the map.

True, but at least we learned our lesson 50-60 years ago and it seems that some intelligent behaving is showing up here. And please don't mention ex jugoslavia... There is a proverb in german it goes like this: The stupid don't learn anything, the smart learn from their errors and the genious learn from the errors of the others. So lets compare: Europe: WW1(1920) WW2(1939) Balkan war (1990). US: WW2 (1939), Suez(1956), Libanon (1958) Taiwan(1958), Laos (1970), Vietnam (1970), Domenican Republic (1965), Kuba (1962), 6 day war (1967), Kambodscha (1975), El Salvador, Niceragua (1981) Grenada (1982), Lybia (1981), Somalia (1991), Irak Part1 and Part2, Afghanistan etc..... Ok some of them were important, but most of them were only ment to invade countries to force them to open their economy to the US especially all the south american ones..

This depends on the view. It seems that both sides are equally satisfied. We are happy that we get of the biggot people, you are happy that you have left this "sinful place" which sucked

Your list is bigger on the US. So is it you know better US history than European history, or is it you've forgotten European countries still have armies, and still use them. Afghanistan for example has seen troops from many different countries.

Well I do not think this is intelligent behavior to be sitting around waiting for someone else to clean up the mess. (Sorry I mentionned ex Yougoslavia)

Good saying. Let us just remember Europe was the super-power at the beginning of the 20th century. After WWI, Europe started WWII, and at the end of WWII half the world stock of gold was in the US... Guess who learned from the others? I tend to think the problem is not about ideas or cleverness. When a country has few resources, it has limited options to engage in hostilities. When a country grows and becomes a superpower, if it is built upon decent values, the problem is then how long will it resist the urge to use that super power? So far, US is not perfect, but not that bad. At one point in time, Germany was split-up, occupied by many different countries. Today it is a whole country, free of any foreign troops. I even heard when US closed their last military bases in Germany, some people were unhappy to see them go. As they were not occupying anymore, and basically bringing revenues to local people :)

I'm so gangsta I eat cereal without the milkIt can't be any worse than the builder's crack I had to contend with at lunch time. We went to a cheap restaurant for lunch and at the table opposite was the most horrendous pastey white builders bum cleavage pushing its way out of a pair of jeans. One of my colleagues suggested we should ask the waiter for a plate of peanuts to see if we could score points.

I think the violence is more disturbing that the nudity. There are lots of violent programmes on TV, yet show a bit of nature and it has warnings before the show, when the adverts finish and it gets put on TV after 10 and people want it banned.

There was mild non-sexual nudity in the first video only. I would say that on the nudity front it was PG rated. On the violence front I'd give it a 12A. (12A means that 12 years and up can watch it, and under 12s if accompanied by an adult)

It really depends on the company. At my current company the people my my office wouldn't be offended by this - I'm sure most people have a lot worse on their PCs anyway. There are a few in HQ that wouldn't find it acceptable (but there is a big cultural difference between the two offices) I recon that if I showed that in my office and people saw I'd get a crowed either asking to have the link emailed, or asking if I can turn the sound up.

Well they both aren't, but that's really moot. What I love is people defending it (like my new shiny down-vote). I mean, this ain't a question of how you feel about it (not you, generalizing), it's a question of where it belongs and that is the SB.

My personal opinion is that this is borderline - If I'd posted the link I would have gone for the SB just to be on the safe side although I would not (am not) offended by it being in the lounge.

Well, if you want to think that then that's up to you. However, I feel that your statement shows a level of arrogance and ignorance that I wouldn't have expected of you. As a for instance, a woman called the Countess of Sutherland (Sutherland is where my ancestors come from) instigated the Highland Clearances. People were forced off the land. They had no choice. If they stayed her factor and his hench men would burn the crofts (the style of house in the Highlands) to the ground. Some of the people were absorbed in to the cities. Most fled to North America. Similar things were happening all over Europe at the time. They did NOT go by choice!

I agree completely, but I'm too tired to get drawn into this with Jeremy again. Just don't start new threads in the Lounge anymore unless all participants are covered from head to toe in a full abaya with matching niqab, and speaking Queen's English, that way you can't offend anyones feelings. Heaven forbid the PC crowd start crying offense though - then we're all fucked.

I don't suppose it was a cheap sushi restaurant? ;) Failing that, a nice cold knife handle or a swizzle stick make for a fine reminder that no one wants to see your bum while they are eating. Not even your mother.

You're wasting your time Colin, Jeremy doesn't care for other peoples opinions. No matter how outweighed he is, he is the only one with the balls to represent the correct side of any argument and the rest of us are just typical immoral cowards. I value his one even more than the others. He is right, let him have it and this thread will disapear. Even the thread he created to talk about this thread will dissapear. And then we can get back to behaving like adults.
