I'm one of the few Arabs who hates Falafel. Give me a sheesh kabob or a sheesh tawooq any day. :)

I love a good Falafel but what on earth is a sheesh tawooq?

interesting. most Americans (non-Muslim, i assume) tend to use 'sheesh kabob' for anything grilled on a skewer.

haha. You can get falafel at some of the dodgy kebab shops here. But I know falafel from my Cape Town days.

I know. I've also heard beef kabob and chicken kabob used which is wrong since sheesh means stick and kabob means meat while tawooq means chicken. The terms meat on a stick and chicken on a stick are also used on occasion as the literal translations. Lost in translation I guess.

#pragma flame(junk_food, off) A friend of mine went to Sweden some time ago and fell in love with a McDonnald's sandwich named "Mc Garden". He's trying to find some info about its ingredients to suggest it to brazilian McDonnald's (they never heard about it), but since we do not speak swedish, Google is not helping. A link or a translated text would be great, but even translating only the "ingredients" word would be helpful for us to find something...

wow. 'kabob' (or kebab) is often used as if it meant 'skewer'. i suppose it's the same thing that happens with 'Engrish'; people take words and use them how they want, regardless of how they were used in the original language .

Those veggie burgers are hard to make at home though. You have to buy them already made. Boca burgers are good because you can make you own sandwich with it, but still it's nice to be able to pick up something quick for lunch that isn't going to turn my blood into sludge. I wish the McD's here would get this product. They have tried it in the past, but the products never make it (remember McLean?). I don't understand that.

Because anyone wanting something healthy for lunch is avoiding McDeaths like the plauge, and healthfood isn't popular with the heart attack crowd.

Not really. Honest Shog's Authentic Yuppie Veggie Burger:

                              1. Boil wheatberries in water until they become a thick sludge
                              2. Mix with firm tofu and gluten paste
                              3. Grease your hands with light olive oil, and form above mixture into patties
                              4. On a hot griddle, burn patties to a crisp.
                              5. Place on cut hard roll, and smother vile flavor with tasty toppings.

Or, just buy some of these[^]. IMHO, a good cheese sandwich on good bread beats every veggie burger i've ever tried.  Of course, ham & cheese is better still.

Neither it is in English. It's called white meat usually, but when you say meat, people assume beef, lamb or goat (which isn't too known here). Most menus have meat and poultry.
