Vista not such a big success here.

Yeah, it's wireless and I need to use their connection client.

I was talking to my mate at the local Harvey Norman about the vista launch last night. Apparently the sold a whopping 2 copies!

Just wait, Vista will prove itself as did 2000, XP and Windows 2003 server. Vista is a golden and will only improve. With in three years most people will be running Vista and XP will be that old OS no one wants any more.

I disagree as well. My memory of Win2K is that it was pretty rapidly picked up. I know I had switched to using it exclusively by Mar/Apr of 2000. I don't see myself using Vista exclusively for a while.

I did have a BSOD from it once, but that is about the worst (I guess that is pretty bad). What problems have you had?

It keeps dropping out, only it doesn't know. And then, I can't reconnect.

I disagree. It is a power hungry monstrosity of an OS. I will not be using it until the last moment possible.

Oh the irony . But I don't normaly have a problem with spelling, just the phrasing itself.

Have you thought of extending the antenna itself?

No, that is not the problem. I have tried various configurations, I get 4 out of 5 signal bars

I used 2000 from a while before it was released as it was a massive improvement over NT on the laptop I was using at the time. I had XP on my games machine at home from almost day 1 but kept my laptop running 2000 until a while after XP SP1 came out. This time, however, both my Desktop and Laptop are 2-3 years old and run everything I need to use as well as I need them to run; neither machine is going to be capable of running Vista. While they continue to work as I would expect them to, I feel no need to spend over £1000 to upgrade my operating system. I know some gamers who are thinking of upgrading to get the benefit of DX10 at some point but even in the gamer community this seems to be a minority of users. Russell

I should point out that it's spelt 'normally'. ;)

I disagree. You find it odd that an OS from 2007 uses more memory then one from 2000? Have you compared the prices for memory from 2000 and 2007. I haven't checked for memory but I did for HDD's, I checked the recommended requirements for XP and Vista. Vista is alot cheaper in GiB/$, GiB/€, GiB/£ than XP.

They should give it away with a games console!

Yep, I moved to it because it was NT with DirectX support...

2k was the last version to add wow level capabilities. As John said it merged NT stability with DX support needed to game. XP and Vista have added large numbers of incremental enhancements, but once you reach the level of runs almost all software and doesn't crash regularly it's hard to make any Earth shattering improvements. UAC has the potential to become one in a few years assuming it can't be easily malwared around, but that's assuming enough people complain to their app devs to get the software updated to work with it instead of just turning it off as overly annoying.
