I just bought a Compaq Evo N180 laptop online this afternoon. They are offering great deals since the merger with HP in case anyone is interested. So, I was wondering what kind of laptops everyone uses? Anyone have the N180? Opinions? Best Regards, -- Dana Holt Xenos Software

I've most recently used Gateway Solo laptops. Stay away from them. My first one died prematurely and its replacement is dying.

I have an IBM thinkpad p3-600 256m which is really a great laptop if you can manage to overlook the fact that it gets really hot and bluescreens all the time. The most important thing to me when buying a laptop would have to be the mouse. I like the little jstick mouse that is between the G and H on the keyboard. I can't stand those touchpad mice, ewwww. -Jack To an optimist the glass is half full. To a pessimist the glass is half empty. To a programmer the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

Hi- $300 off !! Thats a great deal on a solid laptop. If you dont mind me asking..Did you also get the free docking station with your Evo ? I dont understand why N600 is $300 more than N180 with *less* capabilities on almost all counts (even if I pay for the 3yr warranty $240) !  Thanks- Vivek I currently use a Dell Inspiron 3700 at home and Compaq Armada at work. The compaq is quieter and doent freeze up as much as the dell.

I didn't even see that promotion. :omg: I got a 256MB memory upgrade (for a total of 512MB) and an untralight carrying case. It came out to around $1600, which is not bad for the 1.13MHz PIII and XP Professional. I had been looking at buying a laptop for some time, and when I saw these deals I just had to take advantage. -- Dana Holt Xenos Software

The web site is very clunky. To see the current deals, you have to load the page and watch the flash panel on the left margin as it changes :omg: Good luck V

I have a thinkpad 390 and the thing that I like most about it, and that I am surprised not many notebooks have, is the little feet on the bottom that popout so that the notebook is at an angle like my keyboard. .. It amazes me people can type on a completely flat keyboard.

If I could afford to spend the money, I'd seriously consider getting an Apple. I really like their design, and I'm quite curious about OS X. her legs were like peanut butter - smooth and creamy and easy to spread

This may seem like an odd question (as I bet a lot of mine do :~ ) but why are you running Win 2K Advanced Server on a laptop, in all honesty what do you gain over something like Win 2K Professional, especially on a laptop? Nick Parker
