How do you get rid of those stubborn tangles?
-
I have one of those wierd tangles in my telephone handset cable. It looks like it ought to be impossible to untangle it, but I know it can't be. It is one of these cables[^]. I can't find a photo of the tangle, but chances are that you will probably know the type I mean. My question is: how do I untangle it? It is driving me mad... :-O

remove the cord form the base but leave the handset on. Climb on a chair and, holding the socket end, let the handset drop but not hit the floor. It should start to spin and most of the tangles will undo. For th ereally stubborn ones you need to role them between thumb and forefinger, pulling as you go. It really does work. (No sniggering at the back there, Jones).

Thanks man, that did the job. I had to chase it all the way to the end, but it worked. As soon as I had finished I figured out the quick way - you just need to twist the whole cable against the direction of the normal cable twist on one side of the tangle, and it disapears! Every time!

Take the handset high enough and dangle it down. It should automatically untangle. Thomas
[This is a reply to Thomas, the threading bug is back] That didn't work (though it is resolved now, see my reply to digital man above yours). Admit it; you only said that to get me standing precariously on a swivel chair dangling my severed handset beneath me like a yoyo... :-O ;P

I'm so gangsta I eat cereal without the milkAlso, "An ounce of prevention..." Never pick up the phone with your writing hand. (My theory, from experience) What happens is you pick up the phone with your writing hand, then decide you need to take notes, transfer the handset to your non-writing hand, and eventually hang up. That's what causes the twist, try it and see. Moving the phone to your non-writing side will help get into the habit.

Thanks, a good tip.

Then you're just throwing your money away... to China probably. That's what "they" want you to use, don't you know it has a mind-control chip in it that "they" want you to keep close to your head?
