The best tv show
-
I like comedy, unfortunately i find most aussie humor about as funny as a blue car.
Brad Australian - Captain See Sharp on "Religion" any half intelligent person can come to the conclusion that pink unicorns do not exist.
The Chasers war on everything is so funny though. They do stuff like ask trivial pursuit questions to politicians during press conferences and stuff like that.

Right now I'm watching a show called Ugly Betty (it's an ad break) its such a good show and I wanna know what people's favourite tv shows are. My favourite shows are Seinfeld, The Simpsons, and the Chaser's war on everything (it's an australian show).

Top of the list is definitely Seinfeld. Only really came to appreciated it though after moving to New York. "Its all downtown George, its all downtown" ;) Cheers Martin
"When your own heart asks - how will you respond?" Gosen waka shū "Situation normal - all fu***d up" Illuminatus! My photos on flickr

Yeah I do enjoy then chaser 80% of the time
Brad Australian - Christian Graus on "Best books for VBscript" A big thick one, so you can whack yourself on the head with it.
Another Australian! Yeah, chaser's awesome.

Off the top of my head I'd have to say Red Dwarf, Stargate SG-1, Trigger Happy TV, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Coupling and Father Ted. :) Unfortunately with the exception of Doctor Who and Torchwood none of them are being produced anymore. C'est la vie. :rose:

I've only seen Doctor Who before, and only the new ones. It must be because we live in different countries

Quite possibly. Aside from Torchwood (which is coming to the US, but may have limited coverage because of it's adult nature) most of the rest are distinctly British or Irish (with the exception of Stargate SG-1[^]). Some links: Trigger Happy TV[^] Red Dwarf[^] Coupling[^] Father Ted[^] Have fun!

Actually, I think that was on for a while. I think I remember seeing an ad for it, but it wasn't really for me...

British shows are weird! They're pretty funny, but in a weird kinda way.

I remember seeing Father Ted like last year! I didn't really get the humour though...

That's OK. The British/Irish sense of humour is very different to that of most US citizens. Shows like Friends and Seinfeld leave me cold, for example - I just don't find them funny. On the other hand, show me a clip of Kryten[^] being taught by Lister[^] to call Rimmer[^]a "smeghead" and I'm in stitches.:laugh::laugh:

I've heard heaps of people from other countries say that Australian humour is unintelligible, but it makes me laugh, so that's what's important, right?

Not to most Brits! (and Friends is just repetitively boring. Personally, I'd rather jump into a mincing machine than watch an episode of it).

Kryten is a mechanoid, and specifically programmed to serve and obey humans. On the other hand, there is only one human on the ship - the slobby but fun Dave Lister (played by Craig Charles). The only other crewmembers are the Cat (a feline descendent of a pregnant cat smuggled onto the ship three million years earlier (Lister was put into stasis for that, hence his status as the last living human) and Rimmer - a hologram of the most annoying member of the crew, resurected by the ship's computer to keep Lister sane. Rimmer is a stuck up officious coward, and Lister dispises him. So, in Series III he make it his mission to teach Kryten to tell him what he thinks of him. "Smeghead" was an insult the BBC censors didn't know, so it made it into the series. Trust me - it's hilarious! If you do get a chance to see the series, watch Polymorpth[^] from Series III. If that doesn't have you screaming with laughter nothing will. :)

Red Dwarf is great! I too can't stand most american comedy shows, the sort that need a laugh track to tell the audience when to laugh. That just seems lame to me. I find stargate (specially pre-season 8) incredibly amusing however, and House as well.
