HDD Capacity, or HDD storage space? I think I have a bin or two kicking around of old <1gb drives. ;p

      1TB + 240MB + 20MB + 20MB + 160MB = more than enough

ME ME ME! If I added every single byte of HD space I own it would probably amount to 500 gigs.

Put some music on that sucker - mine takes up 30+ gigs by itself.

which leaves you with 970Gb of free space to reach the TB. Plus your whole life is not sufficient for listening to >30Gb ... so what is the point again ?

start archiving tv episodes, or ripping your dvds so you don't need to hunt for the actual disks to watch them. You'll fill gobs of space really fast.

2.27TB here spaced out across three PCs I use most. 2.8TB if I add 4th computer, laptop and external storage Doesn't mean I use it all, but when buying new HDDs it makes sense to buy larger drives as they are cheaper per GB and because they have better performance.

About 3 floppy disks worth? I mean, how much more should an OS take up?

I only have around 400 GB (160 + 160 + 80) At work, our fileservers typically hold around 40 TB, the tabe library hold around ten thousand 320 GB tapes (full backup only :D ). Seen them, love them, want one :)

Backups?  I use my external 500GB one for short-term backups and every so often I'll back up the really important stuff to DVDs.

You'd be surprised how quickly these artsy types can fill up space if they start taking photos or downloading music / movies.

3 x 160 GB = 480 GB, and it's at least half empty. BTW, I have 2 disks for a RAID0 array, and the other disk is just for backup.

Adding up the drives in my main box, 640GB, + 80 in the laptop.
