In the past week I've tried many different free audio players - from iTunes to Winamp to MusicCubeOne - and the one I keep coming back to is VUPlayer. It obviously doesn't have the features of iTunes, but its memory footprint is the smallest of any of the ones I tried - less than 10Mb, compared with ~30Mb for iTunes and ~20Mb for WMP (when playing). It doesn't have the slickest UI, but its UI is functional, and it also supports music lookup via freedb server (which I could never get to work in Winamp). The only thing I don't like about VUPlayer is that it doesn't fully support multiple monitors - if you move it to the second monitor and then exit, it will pop up on the first monitor when you restart it. What's your favorite audio player?

Mine used to be winamp, but I have recently switched over to Windows Media player 11. Allot of cool features and it actually works really well compared to winamp. I use Media Monkey to manage and change my collection.

Winamp ... it went dodgy when they did version 3 but they kinda redeemed it with version 5. It's the skins and plugin support that gets me ... there so much content avalible. I have to admit WMP has grown on me recently, it's much better than it was but I'm sticking with winamp for now.

I use iTunes on both osx and windows. I mostly use it to manage my collection and update/sync my ipod since I never really listen to music on my computers.

I did the opposite. I was using WMP (why comes installed in Windows - how convenient;P). But once I ripped one CD, and how WMP have not found on-line info about the tracks, I renamed the files and id3 tags by hand. Some time after, I backed to folder to check my files and... WMP renamed all to track1, track2, track3... I think that WMP looked on-line for the tracks info, it not found and renamed all to default names... :mad: So I have backed to Winamp, that too is faster than WMP, beautiful, free, small, and more important: it give me another reason to talk bad against MS :->.

It has to be JetAudio for me. Simple, and it doesn't take up much room on your screen in the compact mode :)

I use Foobar2000 for general music playback. I only load up iTunes to put stuff on my iPod, though if FB wasn't around I'd probably use it for playback as well, I find it less annoying than WMP.
