I hate it when FAT people call themselves big. That is a complete abuse of a positive word like big plus they are only kidding themselves and taking a step back by not accepting their obesity and doing something about it ... phew! ... thanks for reading!

That could be used as a polite way of saying someone's fat :-)

Some people can't do anything about it. Yes, it is a health hazard, but sometimes it's physical and the person can't fix it. You think it's just a matter of eating less, but it's not... I know obese people who barely eat. Their bodies are super-efficient, able to extract every iota of energy from everything they eat, whereas a person like me wastes a lot, but I stay thin. My body isn't saving up for a rainy day... whatever I don't need now is wasted. People are not always that lucky. Whatever the situation is, it's not as simple as what you said, and I think you're being extremely inconsiderate. What if told you I don't think the right word is "bald"... I think the right word is "ugly"... that's what you're saying, and if you want fat people to use a derogatory term when referring to themselves, you're asking way too much. Fat and large are the same damn thing and if people want to choose a word with less stigma, who the hell are you to tell them otherwise? This should be in the soapbox, with all the other worthless, harmful, and high-and-mighty opinions that don't mean crap in the real world.

You can't pass a moral judgement on someone because of their weight. For that matter you shouldn't be passing judgement at all. You're not without flaws. You sound like an ass making this post.

hmm ... it's symphathizers like you that are the cause of obesity in this (US) country. Quit patronizing them you idiot ... what they need is to realize that no one is born fat and that being fat isn't an irreplaceble disease that hits only America (Geez!) ... THEY NEED TO GET IN SHAPE FOR THEIR OWN GOOD ... and that means to do whatever it takes ... and the first step is to accept that they are FAT not big.

Some fat bastards voted you down. ;P To be fair it's no one else's business if they choose to be overweight and I could care less either way, but I do agree that self delusion is never a healthy thing.

People need to start living in reality, not trying to sidestep it. No wonder the world is so screwed up.

You don't need to either hate it or love it, just accept it. People who have obesity often have a problem accepting it, it's part of the disease. Have you considered that people who are obese may not like being obese?

Like it or not, it's more accurate to call an obese person fat than to call them big. Using a euphemism for a condition that a person has no control over is just being nice, using it in reference to your own personally chosen of your own free will clinical condition is just living in a fantasy world that is not helping yourself at all.

That's a myth and incorrect. Many people who claim this have been studied and found that they eat far too many calories like any other fat people, they just deny it or seem to do it subconsciously.

I hate it when FAT people call themselves big. That is a complete abuse of a positive word like big plus they are only kidding themselves and taking a step back by not accepting their obesity and doing something about it ... phew! ... thanks for reading!

I am big AND fat, but not obese. I am just shorter that 6'1" and 25 lbs. overweight (consisting almost entirely of fat), but luckily, there isn't a great deal of visible difference between now-me and then-me when I was only 185 lbs. (as long as I am dressed). So rather than starve myself and exercise, I choose to stay fat. Am I offended when someone suggests (which they never do, due to the fact that I don't really look fat) that I am fat? No, I agree. But there is no associated guilt for me, having chosen my 'condition'. Would I like to be lighter? Sure, but not badly enough to make it happen. So what? Well, like me, obese people are so because they got there, OR (||) stay there by their own volition. Does that make them detestable? Not to me. But I agree, they are fat. I am fat. Some skinny people are phat. If you cross the pond, are you trans-fat? Too many people no longer recognize the truth, having convinced themselves that truth is relative (most of my relatives are not fat). But truth is truth, ignore it at your peril. Fat folks know they are fat, but unless you are wholey in that realm, you can't say so. If you're not extremely well tanned you can't use the 'n' word even in conversation about the 'n' word, but they can, and do, use it referencing themselves. As long as I am making enemies, those who CHOOSE to behave cross-gendered refer to themselves lovingly using the same 'f' word the Brits use for cigarettes. But can you and I speak like that in 'polite' company? Not any more. So, where does that leave us? Unfortunately, for some, we must live filled with fear for what some people will think or say, even though we don't respect those people anyway. So why do we fear them? Because we gave them the power to make our decisions for us. It wouldn't be polite to ignore them now, would it? m_fatBoy

Actually, you probably ought to stick with Richard. I think he's a dickless little troll, myself.
