I know this is a repost, so please accept my apologies. :-O A bunch of people joined after the last recruitment drive, but quite a few of them turned out to be inactive and their nations simply vanished after the 28-day limit. For those of you who haven't heard of it, here is a very nice introduction, originally posted by Colin:
I've recently found an online game called Nation States[^] where you create and control a country. You can join a region, become a member of the UN (or not). The game time runs slowly, the UN even slower, so you only need to make one or two moves per day. As you are the ruler of your country you can decide the direction your country takes. You can turn it into a psycotic[sic] dictatorship or a stable democracy. You can found it on capitalist principles or attempt to make it a socialist utopia. Come and try it out. I've created a region called "The Code Project" for anyone here to be part of the same region. In order to become a member of "The Code Project" region you'll need the password. That password is: byalmightybob If you are unable (or don't want) to get the same name for your country as your CPian user name please introduce yourself once you arrive in the region. One quick piece of advice: To make the game more interesting select "Two issues per day" in your settings. That will generate two things per day that your populace are concerned about and you may wish to enact laws about (or even just ignore it) I hope to see you there!
I've put up a link to the Nation States CP group in my CP sig, and urge fellow rulers to do likewise. You can also check out my nation, Puntamba[^]Cheers, Vikram.

Thanks for the repost my past efforts to join the CP region had all failed. I finally got in. You should recognize my avatar but my country name might surprise you as I'm typically not a meat person but I recently fell in love with a black pepper and blue cheese hamburger that is um... probably going to kill me as it isn't that healthy but we only eat them once or twice a month so...:-D

I agree the ranking varies wildly, but do you realize it's not the same ranking? One day it's 'rudest country'; another day it's 'most corrupt'.
Cheers, Vikram.

I grew very bored of this 'game' - it is a giggle at first, but the novelty soon wears off.

Really? I thought much better of Singapore, although its freedoms/rights are rather poor. :^) If you think your country is bad, you should check out India. Our politicians' motto would be something like "Before they ask to bow, grovel". X|

I've never seen a reason to join... what you can do in the nations is limited to various combinations of normal ways of doing things, and many of the things I would do and stances I would take if I were a leader of a real country would be new and novel.
