Anybody happen to have a link to the major changes between Mar '07 CTP and Beta 1? MSDN blogs is blowing up and the only changelogs I can find are between VS 2005 and VS Orcas. :(

I didn't think there was going to be anything major ?

Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++ Metal Musings - Rex and my new metal blog "I am working on a project that will convert a FORTRAN code to corresponding C++ code.I am not aware of FORTRAN syntax" ( spotted in the C++/CLI forum )

Depends on what you mean, between 2005 or between CTP and beta1? I think they fixed a lot of stuff in the CTP, but nothing major on the features.

Good thing beta 1 is out, but why do they have make it this big??? It took me half of the afternoon yesterday to pull in the first four parts. Now I have to download the base image and the other four parts of the VPC image. I can't wait to see the new features :D

That's what put me off the CTPs. At least if it was all one big download I could kick it off overnight or something. Anyway, now I don't have the time to play with it.

Indeed. We're still using Visual Studio .NET 2003 at work. There's no motivation to move to VS2005 until we start using Vista in our products, and that won't happen anytime soon.

I have to agree with you that the download is a little bit on the big side. It takes a while to get, even with the 8MBit connection I have here.

Why do you think they call it "Orcas"?

I don't think there are any major changes - probably not many minor ones either. I have the Mar CTP and I doubt if I'd even download the Beta 1.

LOL We don't have that luxury. For what it's worth, Orcas Beta 1 seems far more polished than VS2005 Beta 1, suggesting that Orcas will be far more stable at RTM than VS2005 was (not that that's difficult). If that's true, it seems Visual Studio is back into its ld "one good release - one crap release - one good release"routine. We'll start pulling the legs off the automation model next week ad see how much it squeals. ;)
