Can't believe that's the third time in as many days somebody's given that opening. Note to self: get a life.

    Cheers, Vıkram.

IMO no. But that doesn't seem to be the way of the world.

Microsoft Corp. is resuming its pursuit of search engine operator Yahoo Inc. that could help it better compete with Web search leader Google Inc., published reports said Friday. [^]

Pretty freaking weird, in an obvious way. Microsoft want more of the advertising market. For uses of Flickr and del.icio.us (I use both) it is going to be a sensitive time. Yahoo! has been good with both services, leaving them largely alone to do what they are good at. I'm not sure if Microsoft will be as benign though. Oh crap, I just remembered the YUI toolkit which is really good. And the Microsoft Atlas toolkit which... well... I don't like it. Crap, they'll nuke YUI for sure, or make it work like Atlas. Ugh.

Prediction: they just slap it with a bizarre license, fire re-assign everyone working on it, then let it die quietly.

The Microsoft Permissive License. Did anyone not from the CELD have a look at that name before they released it? Permissive. There is no good angle to that word, not unless you are 16 and think it is the same thing as promiscuous. * Child Eating Lawyer Department

They should because Google are sitting on cloud nine right now cackling "Oooohhh please let it happen, it'll blow up so fast we won't even be able to index the news in time. From the MS perspective, it

                        1. Does not contain the initials BSD
                        2. Contains the word Microsoft

Success! ;P Yeah, but no - YUI is slick. And i mean, slick like something i could use, not slick like "wow, this just installed an entire frickin' operating system in my browser" or "unreadable generated code? I could just cry!". There's just no way it'd stick around. Culture clash *1000.
