except mine's baked, not fried. so it's as different from a chile relleno as a burrito is from a chimichanga :) same ingredients, different application of heat... totally different!

I've been calling them the same thing. :-O If I had a deep fryer at home though, I'd be frying them up all the time. They are so good with that crispy breading.

I've found a new favorite food along with pickled onions. I've been cooking a lot of Mexican food lately and I've been putting them on just about everything. Not only are they tasty, but there is something cool about cooking them directly on the stove top burners and the smell of the roasting peppers that fills the kitchen.

Mmmm... Towards the end of summer, the farms on the eastern end of town roast their harvest... it is a wonderful smell. :)

Sounds yummy. I've not tried poblanos...have to see if I can find some locally now! (we can get fresh habaneros, nagas and Thai bird chillis locally, so there's a good chance if we hunt around).

They are bigger peppers like the size and shape of an Italian roasting pepper. They have mild heat, but nice flavor.

mix and match, poblanos have excellent flavor but almost no heat. but that means they are great stuffed. :)

In fact I do some killer stuffed peppers where I stuff a chilli inside the meat which is inside a bell. :) An escherish meal, but hey. :)

Wow, sure whets my appetite

I don't but mentioning peppers before I get home is cruel and unusual punishment!!! all they have here are glorified bell peppers! But I do like taste too. I use bells and other mild peppers. In fact I do some killer stuffed peppers where I stuff a chilli inside the meat which is inside a bell. :) An escherish meal, but hey. :) I like my peppers of all kinds.

5, just for the "escherish meal" line. That's an idea that deserves further consideration...

next thing you know I will stuff a chicken with bread-stuffing and a game-hen. ;P actually, I think that is the only one I do that with. It's mostly decoration since the ground steak has finely diced habanero in it and is generally hotter than the thai pepper or or sereno. If I stuff a green bell or a NM green chili (large and mild), I use a sereno or two or three as appropriate. If I stuff a poblano, I generally use a thai or piquin. I dice the habanero carefully and mix it in the stuffing. It's near this recipe[^] although I don't make it that complicated. It's fast and it's hot, and the extra chili is just for decoration and irony. Of course I think all programmers should cook with irony.... cast irony too... ;P
