I don't think it's very accurate. I think it's more accurate to translate it with to give free.

Thanks! I also have been using LEO... The problem is, "freizuschalten" gets no result from LEO (reference: freizuschalten (LEO)[^]). Only this form "freischalten" can get something from LEO instead of the spelling "frei-zu-schalten".

Did you check zuschalten? It means to connect, to switch on or to hook up. That alone would make sense. But I really don't get the "frei" part. On the other hand, the only nuances of German I know, are equivalent to B&W... :-D
