    Do you ever have a day (day before release deadline usually), when you realise that anything you read no longer makes any sense... Just answered to another post below, before realising that i had completely read something different to the actual text of the post and my reply made little sense... I think it's the effect of too much time staring at visual studio as it struggles through another build...

            This part makes so much sense.. it's gotta be real!

            In the Shea/Wilson construct, fnords are scattered liberally in the text of newspapers and magazines, causing fear and anxiety in those following current events. However, there are no fnords in the advertisements, encouraging a consumerist society. It is implied in the books that fnord is not the actual word used for this task, but merely a substitute, since most readers would be unable to see the actual word.
