I thought Beta 1 was free for all.

I thought so too, I've actually got a copy of it but it's complaining it can't find one of the hard-drives, Base01.vhd or something or other.

I like it, I try to avoid VS 2005 when I can now.

So far so cool.. Their web editor is much better now with a style manager and split view (yes, I do a lot on web applications :) ). Overall though, one my system at least, it seems more buggy than 2005 (without SP1) and often dies when exiting. Also it seems to have some quirks trying to attach to a web session. I just wish they would get his wrapped up and out the door so they can start on SP1 ;)

FWIW, Beta 1 of Orcas seems more stable than the RTM of VS2005.

Is that just the C++ bit you are talking about?

Specifically, yes - although the IDE seems more stable in general, too.

Doesn't that mean you have the virtual PC version and it's trying to do a merge with the base vpc disk?

No idea, I use VMWare mostly but it doesn't like the VPC image.

A .vhd is a virtual hard drive for Virtual PC. You have now drained all my knowledge about VPC.

I attempted loading on 64 bit 2003 sp2, does not like the installer and blew bits everywhere X| I've loaded it on vista ultimate and it seems to work well, I did notice that it is a bigger resource hog that vs2k5 is, seems to like a lot of memory. running on a pentium 4 (non hyperthread) with about 1 GB of ram.
