In a couple hours I'm on my way to see The Police. Their first tour in 23 years ... I never got to see them in the 80s. Reunion tour? I like to call it the "we can charge anything we want for tickets because we're The Bloody Police tour"! Over $100(usd) per ticket for the cheapest seats, seats that I'll probably need a telescope to see the stage from :) Anyone see them on this tour? Can I expect good stuff? Hmmm, one of my favorite drummers, and Sting...I think so! Cheers  Mark

$100 per seat!? The Police may be a great band, but they're not that great. :~

They better be  At least I got them a couple months ago so the sting (pun intended) is gone. *edit* Of course, the next pain will be $12 cups of watery beer X| Mark

I think there is a list of top concerts with ticket prices. Eric Clapton won out with a whopping 265 dollars per seat . Not sure if they were front row or balcony seats;)

That's hefty! I think the Police tickets were very close to that for floor seats. I had no choice of seats - the shows sold out in a few minutes :)

I paid $150 for Guns n Roses, $140 for Heaven and Hell, and $300 for Rocklahoma. $100 seems a typical price, to me.

I haven't seen them on this tour, but I did see them at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver for the Synchronicity tour, circa 198? (1984 or 5 probably). It was really good. It was someone's birthday in the band, forget who, and when they took the first break and went back stage a portable camera followed them in and displayed on a big screen on stage. There was a giant birthday cake backstage which became part of a major food fight between the band members. Good show though, definitely top 10 of all the concerts I've been to. The warm up band was some weird '80's synth band who all wore baseball hats that were perfectly normal except the bill or brim or whatever it's called was about 2 feet long. They were semi popular for a while, can't remember the name. -- modified at 19:53 Wednesday 20th June, 2007 Wow August 31 1983 according to "the internet" and the support act was "the thompson twins". Yeah the thompson twins! I saw them at a smaller club here in the 80s. I always think about the hat brims because at the opening of the show, the (female) singer was silhouetted on a sheet and the hat made her look like a duck :)

:) Yeah a duck for sure. In all the publicity photos I just saw she's the only one wearing the funny hat but I remember distinctly when they played live they all had the hat's on. Funny that because I saw the Eurythmics somewhere in that time frame and they started the show with Annie Lennox in sillouhette as well. Actually they had a look alike stand with her back to the audience, the spotlight came on her, the crowd went wild but she just stood perfectly still until the crowd died down then she turned around and introduced the band who were then sillouetted and the curtain whipped away / music started. That was a really good show. We had GA general admission tickets and were standing right up at the barrier before the stage. Annie Lennox is one of the best singers in modern history, her and Freddie Mercury of course! :) Now I'm going to have to track down the Thompson Twins stuff and see if I can remember any of it from the show.

Actual prices. I typically pay scalpers to get close to the front, that can cost up to $1200 ( that is, I've seen them listed for that, I've not paid that ). Rocklahoma is three days and I have a VIP ticket, but the others were just plain old general admission prices. I forget what I paid for Iron Maiden in Toronto, I think all my other shows, I paid scalpers. I think Maiden was cheap, like $60 or something.

YEAH! That's the one! I've been trying to remember their big song without looking it up. I guess actually they had a bit more longevity than I gave them credit for because I've heard that song off an on the radio over the years to this day. I just didn't make the connection. Cheers!

Wow I guess I've been away from arena-rock shows too long! I'm not really complaining - I was ready to pay approx. $250 - those tickets were sold out in seconds. Mark

yeah, I paid about that for Poison, to be in the third row, and it was well worth it.
