Sony Ericsson phones

Well, this is just a post I wanted to share, basically its just some links interested people can check out.Its about SE stopping some firmware updates to some UIQ3 phones and the pissed off users who paid heavy (since prices are dropping). The thing is that they froze or freeze the further development but the users are still complaining about some bugs.Apparently these guys can't fix up a decent alarm clock app on the phone (sigh).Well check out the posts to get a load of the situation; one at the SE dev site and other @ my symbian. http://my-symbian.com/main/index.php[^] http://developer.sonyericsson.com/thread.jspa?threadID=39963&start=0&tstart=0
[quote] Heh stable firmware? Thanks now i have very stable brick called M600i. Oh by the way you probably need far more skilled technician's and programmers IF THEY CAN'T SEE THAT A SIMPLE FREAKING BUG LIKE THE ALARM CLOCK. Yes i have 300$ phone that can't wake me up on time. You set it to 06:30am today, and if everything works out at ideal condition over night (like humidity, temperature or not - too - much dust around the phone) with a little luck you'll be up at 6:30, but if you set it to ring at 8:00am tomorrow, oddly it will ring again at 6:30........ Yeah maybe it's me I don't know. Oh and I obviously didn't know the true meaning of the word DONE in my past 28 years, since when the .... oh wait IF THE ALARM sets of by any chance you have 3 choices. DONE, MUTE and SNOOZE. Well when you press done it sounds again after 5 minutes. Boy I was barking at the wrong tree . Yes yes i know it's all a part of your master plan to make businessman get up at all cost so if they accidentally press done, the pretty brick will kindly remind them again in 5 minutes. You know after all business is more important then sleep. [quote]

Ha! Brilliant!

You are not the only lucky one, my samsung was offered as a great deal through my provider. I thought it woud be handy as it had a camera. Well one day I found a tree had fallen in the pool in a house I had not moved into yet, not having my camera handy, I decided to take picts using the phone. I later found out the only way to get the pictures off the phone was to send them through the service provider... fine... one problem they do not accept picts at the full 1.2MP. fine grumble piss an moan I did, thank goodness I did not need them for insurance. Event went to the store, they could not tell me how to do it. I just learned yesterday that if I use the sound recording feature to record a sound there is no way to delete sounds you no longer want.... these phones are really well throught through:mad:.....

For the picture-sending thing, it's probably your provider locking out the features to scam more $ out of you.

Sony Ericsson make some great phones but they do always seem to have issues. I used to have a W800i walkman phone that you just couldnt get any music on. The file transfer was totally unreliable. This was a common fault that SE said would be fixed in the next firmware update etc but it never was. Now i have a W880i and the file transfer system is totally different (you have to set the phone to file-transfer mode) so there obviously was a problem with the system used in the earlier phones. Unfortunately this one keeps turning itself off. SE say firmware update again. Yep, heard it all before
