This really makes my head explode - apparently anyone in (some parts of) the Islamic world can decide they have domain over "your" morals.[^]

Mike The NYT - my leftist brochure. Calling an illegal alien an “undocumented immigrant” is like calling a drug dealer an “unlicensed pharmacist”. God doesn't believe in atheists, therefore they don't exist.

Those primitive barbarians. Incredible. On the other hand, we could look at ourselves in the mirror. We sometimes are no better [^].

Thats some fucked up shit. What they hell are they? Demons? Perhaps if you were bad your whole life and died, you would be reborn there. Nothing is more hellish on earth than a fucked up civilization in the middle of a hot desert.

Actually, the Klan's complete impotence as a force for any sort of social change reflects nothing but how vastly superior our civilization is to Islamic culture. When their civilization begins treating their extremists in the same way ours does, you might have a point.

Where no better, the KKK is considered by the vast majority to be a bunch of ignorant fools. The broad support the group received in the early parts of the 20th century has evaporative and their marches are typically counterprotested by large groups of people. I don't think that in this day and age you can realistically compare the current state of the KKK with Al Quada, Hamas, Hezbollah and who knows how many other fanatical groups.

I think the Klan was very effective in discouraging social change for many decades. I will be surprised if Islamic extremists are equally effective in stopping the spread of pornography.

The true story of western civilization has been how markedly resistant it has been to extremist philosophies. We have yet to see Islam's successful resistance to it.

For the average Iraqi, this does not even register on their list of concerns when survival itself is a struggle. Having said that I do hope that this vice does not get a hold in a society that shuns these things, considering that in some areas doors are wide for these types of things to be introduced (i.e. no authority to regulate and some people going back see this as a ‘business opportunity’).

I have to agree with you that profiting from pornography is despicable. I think pornography companies are nothing but centres of exploitation.

What a bunch of weirdos :sigh: Not as serious, In France we have an association close from the christian integrists which asked to close "Second Life"[^]. The advantage to live in a democracy where civil peace reigns and justice works is that their demand was rejected by a court[^].

Depends what you are exploiting - capitalism is good because it allows for advancement through society and allows the individual to prosper via the capital markets by providing lending opportunities and opportunities to generate wealth. That's good for society because it increases what the economists call "social welfare" (different than stste-welfare). Porn just exploits people - mostly women and forces them to do degrading things for money. Walmart, for example, may exploit people but it's not really "legal rape".

This has to be proven. For the cases where it is, then it is a rape and the Law should apply.

I think porn is degrading to women. So sex filmed for money, I think is degrading to women. Especially when it is for public consumption.

Don't you think it would be for the women to decide if they find it degradating or not? And especially to the women engaged in porn? They are adult and responsible of their action, so why should your morality applies? Could you also specify what you intend by 'degrading'?
