There is no criteria or calculation for this. Chuck Norris picks a bunch of guys and they'll be MVPs.

i believe its different than MS MVP, as they are given to employees or the qualified. Modified: completly wrong :-O see chris's post below :) to be honest not sure about here, as it means little to me :) how helpful you are, how much you know and your general maner on CP is what i'd put it down to the MVP i see here are helpful and always beat me to an answer so good luck if you want to move in to that field ;) -- modified at 8:41 Monday 9th July, 2007

Contributions and Peer Help in Technical sections like ASP.NET, Web Development etc counts, I guess. Just a week back, someone was explaining about the process of MVP in CodeProject right?

Totally wrong. An MS MVP does not need to have any qualification ( I sure don't, I have no certifications and no degree ). An employee is exempt from being an MS MVP, if an MVP gets a job at MS, they lose their MVP as a result.

Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++ "I am working on a project that will convert a FORTRAN code to corresponding C++ code.I am not aware of FORTRAN syntax" ( spotted in the C++/CLI forum )

Mmh, yes, ok, I misunderstood MVP status with Membership status. To be a MVP here, you must be helpful, patient, skillful, but lucky as well, since only people that vote for you bring you point for the MVP status. Too bad if you help people that are not grateful.

i do like-wise only if i know the answer... i normally get beaten to the answer, some people can throw these answers out in no time its scary  how do you grade the answer? I go for: technical accuracy ease of understanding links (to prove whats said) if I just get it first read :)
