I have recently began my first job as CE 6.0 R&D, and development for such system. We start at 7:00 AM, which is much earlier than I am used to getting up. So, as others in the office have suggested, I have began making use of the never never ending amount of coffee here. I have drank about 3 cups of coffee, at about 12 ounces a cup. How much coffee do the CPians drink on a given day?

I start at 7:30 (and I like it because I get to go home at 4pm) and I only drink coffee as a last resort when all else fails. Just go to sleep no later than 10-11pm and you will be fine next morning. If you still have trouble waking up just rinse your face with ice cold water - works every time.

Hmmmph... Heck of a question on a Monday... Lemme see, I start with a pot to get my heart started and my brain functioning well enough to find the shower. Once I get to work I fill up my 14oz mug and attempt to locate my desk under all the phone messages and notes from last week. During the day I refill the mug 9 to 12 times, depending on the number of meetings scheduled for the day. In between coffees, and especially if I'm in the field at 120°F, I guzzle water throughout the day and evening. By 9PM I'm ready for a scotch or three, with a pitcher of beer or two for a nightcap. I doubt there's much caffeine in those last items, so I fall fast asleep without difficulty.:-D Don't worry; as you gain experience your caffeine tolerance, along with bladder capacity, will grow. It has to, because the winner in any meeting is the one with the highest caffeine resistance and bladder capacity. Being the last one to have to leave the room gives you a real bargaining chip.

I drank almost as much tea each day, 3 liters to be exact. :)

Ever since I gave up drugs and alcohol about 6 years ago I have been consuming on average about 60 oz. of Starbucks a day, everyday. With that said, I have just started weaning myself off of coffee and going to tea or just water. I agree with getting plenty of sleep. My day starts at 8 am and I am in bed by 10 pm, all the time. If you are going to drink alcohol, then do it on the weekend but never during the week.

sounds like a normal day to me... 7:15am, sometimes 7am. The hardest part is changing shifts. Eventually, most people will adjust to any given shift start given a reasonable length, and no abuse of that with less sleep.... The hardest part is going from 7:15am, leaving early in order to be back at 1am on following morning, working late processing data (say 16 hour day), and expecting to be back at 7:15 the next following day. :)

I'm not bashful on this subject. I have Central Sleep Apnea so I don't get the best sleep. I usually wake up feeling like I've got a wad of cotton lodged in my brain that's slowing everything down. I have 300 Mg's of caffeine using a product called SPARK by Advocare that I buy off Ebay. I have it once a day and that's it. It's been a faithful friend since 2004 and my sleep apnea physician said it's a better choice than the medication she could prescribe for $11 a pill that I'd pay for out of pocket. She thinks caffeine is just fine so long as it works. Nice!!!

For the curious The Caffeine Database[^] lists caffeine amounts. It's interesting to see that a 44ml espresso has 77mg caffeine, whereas a 237ml drip coffee has 145g caffeine. So I should actually be having doppio's instead of single shots in order to keep up with a standard cup of "coffee" (and I use the term loosely) that's served here.

                  cheers, Chris Maunder

Sorry, what is confusing? I answered the question on how many cups of coffee I drink. The answer is zero. I don't drink coffee.

[trying to be funny] Maybe there is a subtle difference between drinking zero cup of coffee and don't drink coffee at all, just like the difference between "I caught zero fish" and "I did not go fishing at all". ;P [/trying to be funny]

the only coffee that ive had was in Europe, and that was my first cup at the ripe old age of 22. it was ok, but ive seen too many people slaves to morning coffee, so im avoiding it at all costs.

I occasionally get an iced coffee but due to my lactose intolerance, it's not often. I hate hot coffee. I used to drink lots of diet coke, but I'm down to about one 20-ounce bottle a day. A little more on the weekends.

1 to wake me up in the mornings ... then followed by 5 cups of green tea until 6pm. This way I don't jitter but am still awake.

About six, but I make it weak, with lots of sugar. And I don't make it until I get to the office.

Cheers, Mircea Many people spend their life going to sleep when they’re not sleepy and waking up while they still are.
