Anyone heard of when it will be released? I have heard it is suppose to be late July, but no exact time yet.

All the rumors I can find on the web say late summer (late summer in the right-side-up hemisphere :)) Mark

The best I have heard should put it sometime next week, but that's basically the end of the month.

According to Scott Guthrie on his blog comments, roughly at the end of this month: http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2007/07/09/vs-2008-nested-master-page-support.aspx#3076792[^] Three weeks from 9th July is 30th July.

I assume there is a missing smiley there? 1) MS is not going to "release" orcas as it's a codename. 2) They will release Visual Studio 2008 "towards the end of this year" ie. 2007 3) There is an official 'launch' which will include things like SQL 2008 on 27th Feb 2008.

I'm curious what hardware resources are really needed to efficiently develop using it. I am using VS.NET 2005 and at times it is unbearable slow. I'm running a box with 1.5gb or RAM with a 3ghz processor. Any thoughts?

Single processor? I just upgraded to 2005 and find it faster than 2003. I'm on a dual-Xeon, 3.2 GHz machine. The parallel project builds is sweet when doing a full rebuild :) Mark
